How we chose

  • Experience – We evaluated the experience of each studio’s colour analysts. We looked for studios with highly qualified professionals who had a deep understanding of colour theory and its application to personal style.
  • Methodology – We prioritised studios that employ well-established and scientifically sound colour analysis techniques, such as seasonal colour analysis or the Munsell colour system.
  • Additional services – We considered any additional services offered by the studios, such as personalised style consultations or makeup recommendations. These services can enhance the overall value and benefit for clients.
  • Client reviews – We carefully reviewed client testimonials and online reviews to gauge the overall satisfaction and experience of past clients.

Founded by Gabriella Winters back in 2014, Chromology offers a personal colour analysis that goes beyond the basics.

Gabriella’s background in colour psychology and design really shines through in the way she approaches this. She uses the 12-tone Sci\ART™ method, a scientific process that pinpoints the exact shades that complement your skin tone, eyes, and hair.

A half-day, one-on-one session at Chromology comes with a price tag of £375, which is definitely on the higher side compared to the average.

But here’s the thing: you’re not just paying for a session; you’re also getting a deep dive into around 60-70 different coloured fabrics and a hands-on demonstration of how to use your colour swatch book properly. They even do a short photo shoot in your best colours.

We were also impressed with how easy it is to book an appointment through their website. It’s all very seamless, and the added touch of a portfolio blog gives you a glimpse into the kind of work they do.

Pros

  • Expertise of Gabriella Winters

Takes time to test and explain each colour combination

“As someone with a deeper skin tone, it is not easy to find accurate information on colour season analysis so I came to Gabi at Chromology. Gabi really took her time to try out each colour combination and explain the advantages and disadvantages of each colour season for my skin tone. She also gave me some recommendations on fabric textures and makeup shades. She is also very friendly! Very much recommended!”

Conducts thorough and meticulous colour analysis

“Recently had an amazing session with Gabi.  She is incredibly thorough and understanding and we went through all the colours meticulously.  I had previously been draped as a light summer but had felt it wasn’t quite right particularly when it came to wearing too many light colours together and the make up was off.  Gabi helped me see that bright winter was so right for me and how much I needed those brighter colours, which when I think about it, were the ones that people always complimented me on.  After going through all the drapes, we then looked at hair, jewellery, glasses and make up and I am so pleased with the results.  Gabi recommended make up shades that I wouldn’t have normally worn and I am amazed at the difference!  Would thoroughly recommend Chromology and I am so pleased I went.”

When we sat down with Sandy Lancaster at House of Colour, we quickly realised that her expertise goes beyond just picking out clothes – she’s all about helping you discover the colours that truly make you shine.

What we really liked was how she combined her deep understanding of colour psychology with practical style advice, making the whole experience both informative and enjoyable.

Sandy takes the time to dig into the nuances of your skin tone, eye colour, and personal style. She identifies those “wow” colours that not only boost your confidence but also help you present your most authentic self.

Another thing we loved about our session was how affordable it felt, especially given the value we got out of it. For £200, you get a 2 to 3-hour colour consultation, which is a steal considering the depth of insight and the confidence boost you walk away with.

Plus, Sandy doesn’t just leave you hanging after the session. She offers follow-up support through a lookbook portal, where she handpicks clothing that matches your unique colour palette. It’s a thoughtful touch that really sets her apart.

Pros

  • Expertise in colour psychology
  • Convenient online booking
  • Personalised sessions
  • Follow-up support
  • Reasonable pricing
  • Gift vouchers

Cons

  • Hard to book

Makes shopping a helpful and confidence-boosting experience

“Sandy is one of a kind! Her ability to listen, to look and to connect you with your true style is amazing. I also love the fact that Sandy thinks about clothes beyond just buying brand new so suggests ways to adapt the ones you have through sewing or dying as well as wearing them differently in order to capture your unique style. Shopping with Sandy was really helpful and I would totally recommend this as well – I now have more confidence with brands I hadnt thought about before! However, maybe the best part about working with Sandy is that she makes style fun and playful while recognising that sartorial affairs are often quite serious business. Enjoy!”

Helps clients embrace and enjoy their personalised colour palette

“Thank you Sandy for a wonderful colour analysis session. It was a lovely way to spend an afternoon – a little like having a massage or a facial it felt like self-care.   I’m enjoying getting to know my autumnal palette, I’ve had compliments already on the lipstick you recommended and now feel I can shop for both clothes and makeup with much more confidence. Highly recommended.”

Provides a fantastic online experience

“I already left a review on Trustpilot but wanted to leave one here as well. Curating Your Style offers an unbelievable service. I chose the online service since I’m not from England. It was a fantastic experience. It was a bit of a shock when I got my results, but I was guided through it every step of the way. They have a world of knowledge and the emails that I received about my season made it so much easier to grasp what it actually contained. You do with the info what you want of course. They have a package for every budget, which is refreshing since colour analysis is obviously having a moment which is reflected in the prices. But they have different packages and I think that’s awesome that there’s something for anyone. I would advise Curate your style to everyone, their service is impeccable.”

Demonstrates exceptional care and attention in their service

“I’m so glad I chose Curate Your Style London for my seasonal colour analysis. I love that they have three different people determine your colour season, and you only have to wait 72 hours for your results. What I received was so in-depth and beautifully presented. You can see the care and attention they put into their service. I’m excited to play with the colours in my season. Their guidance on how to navigate my new colours was unexpected and greatly appreciated. I highly recommend them.”

Offers a Gold Package that delivers great value

“I am so happy I purchased a Color Analysis from Judy at Four Seasons Studio. I needed an objective perspective because I just kept buying all my clothing in black which, surprise surprise, is NOT my best colour.  I purchased the Gold Package which I am very happy with. Judy is really helpful – I had a couple follow up questions that she was happy to help me with. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to elevate their look. Shopping for clothes and makeup now is a lot more fun as I now know which colours will go best with my overall colouring.”

Delivers fast and top-notch colour analysis

“Four Seasons Studio did a great job on my colour analysis. They were fast and the package materials they provide are top-notch. I got the gold package and it’s 50+ pages of great information about your season. Jora was friendly and detailed in her messages to me as well. I was colour analysed by another company last year and have been living in that season’s colors since then but it never felt right to me. Four Seasons Studio analysed me as a different season and it feels so right. I’m obsessed with my new colour palette!”

Roberta Rocca’s The Studio really caught our eye for all the right reasons. Roberta’s a pro when it comes to colour analysis, and she’s taken the traditional 4-season approach and dialled it up with a 16-season method.

It’s not just about slapping a season on you. She digs deep, considering every detail like your skin undertone, the intensity, and the contrast of your natural features to pinpoint the colours that make you shine.

After our session, we walked away with a personal palette that’s been a lifesaver for shopping. It’s like having a cheat sheet that guarantees whatever you buy works with your natural colouring.

For those of you planning a wedding, Roberta’s bridal styling service is something to consider. She’s got you covered, from the best tones to the perfect styles for your big day.

Whether you prefer face-to-face consultations or the convenience of online sessions, she’s flexible enough to accommodate you wherever you are.

That said, we did notice a couple of areas where they could step up their game – like offering an online contact form and being a bit more upfront about pricing. But they make up for it by having great promotions, like a 10% discount when you sign up for your next analysis.

Pros

  • Advanced 16-season colour analysis
  • Flexible consultation options
  • Comprehensive services
  • Promotional discounts
  • Personalised palette

Cons

  • No online contact form/booking
  • Lack of price transparency

Makes clients feel at ease from the moment they arrive

“I recently had the pleasure of having a colour analysis consultation with Roberta and I couldn’t have been more pleased with the fantastic service she provided. From the moment I arrived, Roberta’s professionalism and friendly attitude put me at ease, making the whole experience enjoyable and informative. Her expertise in colour analysis was evident, as she carefully assessed my unique colouring and offered valuable guidance on which shades best complemented me. I highly recommend Roberta to anyone looking for an experienced and helpful colour analysis consultant. Her professionalism and friendly nature made the consultation a pleasant and enriching experience.”

Provides clear answers to long-standing questions

“Roberta quite literally changed my life! I had spent years wondering if what I was wearing suited me, what colours to wear and what make up was right for me. After a couple of hours with Roberta I now know the answers to all of those questions and I have never been happier, I feel so much more confident in what I wear and how I look, I find it totally amazing how having the right colours make you not only look great but feel great too. I have received loads of compliments since my colour analysis and I highly recommend for everyone to have it done and to use Roberta as she is extremely knowledgeable and absolutely lovely to work with!!!”
