New inventions? New research? Created a logo for your business? You might want to protect them all legally.
You don’t want to see your works out there being used by others. Likewise, you don’t want others to take credit for something you own. That’s where intellectual property protection comes in.
We did some digging on the best intellectual property lawyers in London. If you’re looking to patent, trademark, or copyright your work, read on to see the professionals you can trust.
How much do intellectual property lawyers charge?
Intellectual property lawyers typically charge £100 to 400 per hour, depending on the type of protection you need. The cost of filing a patent is different when registering a trademark. Other fees might also include VAT, drawings, and renewals.
How we chose
- Expertise in intellectual property law: We selected lawyers who have years of experience in different types of IP protection, particularly patent, copyright, and trademark registration.
- Pricing: We only selected law firms where the pricing aligns with their experience, qualifications, and track record.
- Litigation support: We focused on professionals who provide legal support on trademark challenges, copyright disputes, and patent infringement.
- Specialisation: We filtered lawyers who have specialisations such as brand protection strategies for businesses, licensing agreements, and IP disputes.
- Communication: We reviewed solicitors who explain and simplify legal terms for clients to easily understand. We talked to clients to confirm this.
1. Azrights International Limited

Address: 118 Pall Mall
Contact Details: +442077001414
Operating Hours: Monday – Friday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Azrights firm is focused on the A to Z of IP protection in the digital world. They help business owners protect their new name, work, and even do due diligence. They also cater to trademark registration, design rights, and confidential information.
A couple of clients shared that Azrights helped them create terms and conditions as well as a privacy policy for their business. Another said the firm helped him with his EU trademark submission while making everything easy to understand.
One remarkable client we encountered shares that she’s dyslexic and thanked the firm for using simple language (proving that they minimise legalese). They’re also reliable internationally, helping a client register a trademark in different countries.
Aside from that, they’re also tech-savvy. This is particularly helpful for businesses whose names, logos, and resources are available online.
They’ve also got reasonable pricing and a responsive team. The only downside is that you may find it challenging to book a service with them since they’re in demand.
Quick and professional
“Azrights is an excellent law firm. I would not hesitate to recommend them. Peter Jennings went the extra mile to help me and sorted out my problem quickly and professionally with the right solution.”
-Ms. Trisha Scott, Google Review
Great service
“We needed a new set of Terms and Conditions for our business and the 3 core products which we sell. Shireen and her team did a thorough evaluation of our business, products and customers and produced a comprehensive set of Terms within a short space of time.”

2. London IP

Address: 2 Cobble Mews, Finsbury Park
Contact Details: +442081585960, [email protected]
Operating Hours: Monday – Friday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Composed of trademark and patent attorneys, London IP specialises in IP protection. They handle other rights protection like confidentiality, design, and passing off despite their limited number of lawyers onboard.
A client said that even though she was in Southern California, the team got her trademark filed in the UK right away.
Another client also shared that David helped him with a trademark application without a hitch. He appreciates how the team shows genuine interest in his case.
We also really find their free initial consultations helpful. A client wanted to enforce his US patent in the UK, but when he consulted, London IP explained that commissioning a review would be expensive. This advice saved him expenses he wasn’t aware of.
As for the pricing, their rates start from £2000 to £8000 (aside from the application itself). For us, it’s a fair rate, given the fact that they are qualified solicitors and not trainee lawyers.
One thing to note is that they don’t have many solicitors available. This could affect their availability.
Helpful and fairly priced
“My whole experience with London IP was great. David was very helpful and genuinely interested in what I was planning. He was thorough and very fairly priced. My application for a trademark went through without a hitch and ahead of time. I cannot recommend London IP enough.”
-Mr. Jonathan Loe, Google Review
Consistent, efficient, and friendly
“LondonIP are definitely worth recommending. They have offered me a consistently efficient, effective and friendly service which I have valued. A quality service with needed insights. David Warrilow would always be worth consulting as an attorney.”

3. Gill Jennings & Every LLP

Address: Broadgate Tower, 20 Primrose St
Contact Details: +442076558500, [email protected]
Operating Hours: Monday – Friday: 8:50 AM – 5:30 PM
GJE, with offices in London and Germany, helps businesses become stronger by helping them protect their IP and make the most out of it. They handle trademark disputes, filing for IP, and registering designs.
What stuck with us is that they have IP solicitors focused on technical industries like pharma, AI, and engineering. Their focus on a specific industry means the lawyers have niche knowledge that not every IP lawyer out there knows about.
A previous client shared that the team helped them review their products to see what specific protection they need. Then, they also trained their engineering team on some patent-related matters.
For us, this shows that they really want their client to make the most out of their business (just what their company is all about).
Another retainer client of theirs also shared that he has on going back to Rachael Ward of GJE for years. He’s satisfied with the team’s quick response to his IP-related concerns, saying it’s reassuring and time-saving.
However, some of their attorneys are still trainees, so you might encounter some who will handle your case. If you want a partner or an associate to handle yours, make sure to communicate it nicely.
Quick and cost-effective
“We have worked with Gill Jennings & Every LLP now for a number of years on several different projects, all of which have been IP related. It’s been a real pleasure, and a very easy, quick and cost-effective solution for our needs.”
-Mr. Bradley Gravett, Google Review

4. Briffa Legal Ltd

Address: Business Design Centre, 52 Upper St
Contact Details: +442070962779, [email protected]
Operating Hours: Monday – Friday: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Creative lawyers for creative business – that’s what Briffa Legal is all about. It’s a law firm specialising in IP audits, contracts, and disputes.
Almost everything you need to safeguard your creatives (including brand protection, data protection, and image rights) is here. It’s like a convenient shop for entrepreneurs looking to safeguard their business.
Most of their previous clients love their trademark services. One said that Briffa has finally put an end to the three-year trademark dispute. Another entrepreneur also shared that Alex and Suraj helped him understand legal terms related to his trademark.
Their copyright infringement is also impressive. They were able to solve a trademark infringement in Turkey, which was a collective effort from different solicitors of the company.
Another plus point? They give free advice, just like what a client got for his trademark enquiry.
We also appreciate that they cater to small businesses that are afraid of IP-related costs. A client is so happy that Katie explained their costs, which pushed her to pursue the IP.
If there’s something disappointing about their service, it’s that they don’t reply fast to emails. One client even shared that the team was 45 minutes late for their scheduled consultation.
Helpful and responsive
“Great service, understanding, helpful, responsive and professional. I want to personally thank Katie Moruzzi for all the great work. I 100% recommend working with Briffa Legal, and I’ll be using them for all future needs.”
-Mr. Ryan Lord, Google Review
Quick work
“I’ve asked Briffa to look at important contracts we have with large organisations (we’re a small business). They’ve always been responsive and friendly, pulling out the stops to turn work around quickly. They listen and do a great job without blinding you with legal jargon.”

Another business owner said that he’s been with the team for years now, and she often comes for commercial legal advice. She loves how the solicitors are plain-speaking, credible, and loyal to their clients.
For their pricing, they charge depending on the solicitor’s years of experience. For instance, a lawyer with 8 years of experience starts at £398 per hour (plus VAT). For us, it’s reasonable.
The last thing we don’t like is that the firm tends to decline some clients, especially when they’re busy or a lack of lawyers is available.
Very impressive
“Saunders Law were very impressive throughout our dealings, which resulted in a super victory against two very large international law firms, and they guided us with excellent judgement and coordinated all components brilliantly. Would highly recommend. We were in the very capable hands of Matthew & Georgina.”
-Marc Daniels, Google Review

During this time, Greta has consistently taken time to keep me updated and has been extremely professional, helpful and supportive during this process, ensuring that I eventually had a very positive outcome, and for this I am extremely grateful.”
