Delivering the best obstetricians and gynaecologists in London

So, whether you’re starting a family, navigating menopause, or anything in between, finding the right doctor can make all the difference.

But no worries! We’ve done the legwork to bring you the best obstetrics and gynaecologists in London.

How much do obstetrics and gynaecologists charge in London?

How we chose

1. Harley Street Gynaecology – Private Gynaecologist in London

Operating hours:

Website

We’ve been following Harley Street Gynaecology since it opened in 2015, and honestly, it’s earned its place on our list. Their services cover everything from routine check-ups to complex procedures like hysteroscopies and cancer screenings.

What really impressed us, though, was their personalised care. Take their “Smart Woman” health screening, for example – it goes beyond the usual “Well Woman” check-ups. It’s tailored to each patient’s needs.

Plus, they’ve got a solid team. They have Mr. Ashfaq Khan, who’s known for his work in cervical cancer research and minimal access surgery.

When we spoke to a few patients, they mentioned how smooth the experience was, especially with online consultations.

We also found their rates pretty competitive for the level of care they offer. In-person visits start at £265 for an initial consultation, with follow-ups at £225. Online consultations, on the other hand, start at £240.

Pros

  • Years of experience
  • Comprehensive services
  • Convenient online consultations
  • Experienced team
  • Easy online booking
  • Competitive pricing

Cons

  • A few reports of poor customer service

Delivers advice with warmth and empathy

“Initially I was greeted by Dr Khan’s wonderful PA Nicky. She was very warm, understanding and easy to talk to and definitely influenced my decision to know I came to the right place. Dr Khan was very knowledgeable, explained everything to me clearly and I left there with a plan of action rather than being scared or worried. He made me feel reassured and gave advice as if I was a loved one, rather than just another patient. Definitely recommend.”

Builds trust through attentive listening and unhurried consultations

“The positive reviews are all true . Mr Khan is an amazing professional; extremely knowledgeable and skilled.  His communication skills are unmatched. He takes time to listen and his consultations are unhurried and thorough. Most importantly he builds trust which is really essential if you are anxious. I will be using Mr Khan again and I have recommended him to all my friends and family. I cannot praise Mr Khan and Nicki highly enough.  I am grateful that I found them.”

When we checked out Woman First, Miss Nadine Di Donato definitely caught our attention. She’s a seasoned pro in minimally invasive surgery, especially when it comes to handling tough conditions like endometriosis and pelvic pain.

What we really like is how her team doesn’t just treat the problem. They look at how it impacts a woman’s overall well-being, from her relationships to her day-to-day life.

They’ve got a solid range of services, from dealing with ovarian cysts and fibroids to tackling more complex conditions like pelvic inflammatory disease.

We were also impressed by their approach to endometriosis management – something they’re well-known for. They address physical symptoms and consider the broader impact on the patients’ emotional well-being, relationships, and daily life.

That said, we were hoping for a bit more transparency with their pricing. However, it makes sense, given that their services are so personalised.

Pros

  • Holistic approach
  • Expert in endometriosis care
  • Comprehensive services
  • Experienced lead consultant
  • Personalised care

Cons

  • Lack of transparent pricing

Combines deep knowledge with kindness and empathy

“Dr Di Donato is hands down the best gynaecologist I’ve seen! She is super knowledgeable, kind and empathetic. She explained everything about my situation to me really clearly. She and her team were amazing during my procedure, and I was comfortable and well taken care of throughout. She set me down a care pathway that I would not have otherwise realised was available to me – it has been transformational, not just for my life, but my entire family’s! I highly recommend Dr. Di Donato!”

Demonstrates an amazing bedside manner during procedures

“Miss DiDonato is hands down the best doctor I have ever seen. I saw Miss DiDonato for a second opinion and from the very first appointment I felt listened to and cared for. I ended up having a somewhat unique issue that the initial consultant I saw completely overlooked. Miss DiDonato listened to my concerns and thoroughly explained her line of thinking and path forward for care. I had two procedures and both times her bedside manner was amazing. My body is all fixed now but in the future if I have to see a gynaecologist again, I will definitely be back!”

Led by top consultants like Dr Christian Barnick, Dr Alison Wright, and Dr Vinita Singh, ObGyn Matters’ expertise spans from high-risk pregnancies to advanced laparoscopic surgeries for conditions like endometriosis and fibroids.

We loved their commitment to minimally invasive procedures, which means quicker recovery and minimal scarring. This is ideal for women who want to maintain their fertility and bounce back to normal life faster.

Their endometriosis care really impressed us. They offer both medical and surgical options tailored to each patient. Dr. Barnick is a standout with his keyhole surgery skills, performing over 500 surgeries a year.

We spoke to a few patients who mentioned how easy it was to book online or even consult via Zoom and Skype, which is super convenient.

While their initial consultation is on the pricier side at £300, we felt their level of care more than justifies it.

Pros

  • Highly experienced team
  • Minimally invasive procedures
  • Comprehensive endometriosis care
  • Convenient online booking & video consultations
  • Reputation for advanced surgery

Cons

  • High consultation fees

Explains symptoms and treatment options clearly

“I saw Dr Wright yesterday with some symptoms of peri menopause. She immediately made me feel at ease despite my complete lack of knowledge in the area, and she talked me through all the symptoms and what the various treatment options will be. She was very thorough and sensitive in her examination and questioning and I felt she really heard me and was available to discuss the path forward. I really appreciated her depth of knowledge and her approach. I feel we have a plan and I know she will guide me through the next steps. I have already recommended Dr Wright to a friend with peri symptoms and feel very happy to give her a five star review and recommend her here. The lady who took my blood at the clinic was also lovely and made the process painless and easy. Dr Wright’s PA is very friendly and efficient too.”

Provides a smooth and efficient appointment booking process

“I have had an excellent experience with the clinic and in particular Dr Zenner. Very easy and quick to make an appointment. Dr Zenner and her team have been very professional and made their best to make me comfortable throughout the examination process and other procedures. Her PA Zoelle is swift to get back to your emails and she kindly assisted with my appointment with another clinic which was beyond her responsibility. I am happy that I trusted this practice.”

When we checked out Gynaedoctors, we were immediately struck by the balance of expertise and comfort they offer.

Led by Dr Hina Pathak Sra, whose training at Oxford and Imperial College speaks volumes, this clinic doesn’t just handle the usual gynaecological issues like heavy periods and post-pregnancy care.

They also specialise in aesthetic procedures like labiaplasty and Femilift, a non-invasive option for enhancing vaginal tightness.

What stood out to us was how the female-led team really creates a space where women can openly discuss sensitive topics without feeling uncomfortable. They’ve got you covered, whether it’s for menopause treatment or aesthetic gynaecology.

We also appreciated how easy it was to book a consultation, whether online or in person. There’s even an added perk of a free 10-minute consultation for online bookings. Plus, the option for emergency and same-day appointments is a huge plus.

Pros

  • Highly experienced team
  • Comprehensive services
  • Female-led environment
  • Convenient online booking
  • Emergency & same-day appointments

Cons

  • Booking an appointment can be hard due to high demand

Instills confidence by identifying the best solutions for treatment

“A great team of professionals. Knowing exactly what the best solution is, which gives you relief that you are in the best hands. The experience with the clinic’s team was way above expectations. The recovery is super fast, like next day you are up and running as nothing happened. Which states the quality of procedures and treatments they use. On emotional side, Dr. Hina is an angel, listening with patience your story and providing the feeling of close partnership with the same goal. All partners and staff are super clam and nice, taking time to explain in details the procedure steps and ready to answer any question. Definetly returning for any other need!!! Dr Hina, a big THANK YOU!”

5. Shaheen Khazali

shaheen-khazali

Location: The Lister Hospital, Chelsea Bridge Rd, London SW1W 8RH, United Kingdom

Contact: +44 20 3411 6693

Website

When we looked into Dr Shaheen Khazali’s practice, it was obvious why he’s highly regarded in his field. With 23 years of experience under his belt, he’s the go-to for tackling tricky endometriosis cases, especially when it spreads to the bowel, bladder, or nerves.

His leadership at The Lister Hospital’s Centre for Endometriosis and Minimally Invasive Gynaecology (CEMIG) has made it one of the busiest endometriosis centres in the UK, which tells you a lot about his reputation.

What really sets him apart is his specialisation in Neuropelveology, allowing him to treat rare pelvic nerve disorders. It’s a level of expertise you don’t see every day.

His £400 initial consultation fee is on the higher end. However, given the complexity of the cases he handles, we think it’s justified.

We also liked his forward-thinking approach, which includes online consultations and a pain diary for chronic pelvic pain patients. This really shows how much he values staying connected with his patients.

Pros

  • 23 years of experience
  • Specialisation in neuropelveology
  • Leadership at a major endometriosis centre
  • Advanced treatment options
  • Tech-savvy care

Cons

  • High consultation fees

Provides helpful and professional guidance at every stage of care

“Would highly recommend Mr Khazali! Clearly incredibly knowledgeable and an expert in his field, he was helpful and professional at all stages. I was reassured when we both agreed surgery was the right next step. The surgery itself seems to have been done very well, and (touch wood!) recovery has gone well thanks to his skill and expertise. Very impressed.”

Ellen W, Google Review

Offers the best recovery experience

“I had been struggling for a long time with severe abdominal pain and endometriosis and suspected adenomyosis. Mr Khazali was the only Dr who treated me as an individual, spoke to me as an adult and I’m forever grateful for him doing my hysterectomy. I have recovered the best I have from any laparoscopy before and feeling much better and that’s all thanks to Mr Khazali. I’d also like to thank Dr Fleischer. During this difficult time I was supported by Mr Khazali’s amazing PAs, Emma and Tamasine. I have never come across such dedicated, caring and supportive PAs before. I highly recommend Mr Khazali and his team.”
