My uncle owns a mid-sized construction company and has been keeping a close eye on recent regulatory changes. During one dinner, he admitted feeling stressed and unsure how to avoid costly compliance mistakes.
My mom, bless her heart, thought we might be able to help since we were already researching property lawyers for our site. But I knew then that property lawyers weren’t the answer; what he really needed was a regulatory lawyer.
So I brought up the idea to my Wunderlust London team during one of our meetings, and it quickly became our next mission: finding the best regulatory lawyers in London.
After much research and lots of talks with previous clients, we finally found the ones with the most experience, top-notch services, and fair pricing! Here’s who made the cut here.
How much does a regulatory lawyer charge in London?
A regulatory lawyer charges £190 to £350 per hour. However, there are solicitors, senior partners, and consultants who charge up to £1000, depending on the complexity of the case. Other fees to consider include VAT and barrister fees.
How we chose the best regulatory lawyers in London
- Experience: We prioritised lawyers with years of experience in regulatory law. We checked if they have notable cases and a proven track record of handling complex regulatory matters.
- Services Offered: We chose law firms that offer a range of services related to regulatory law, including compliance advice and licensing, investigations, and representation before regulators.
- Pricing: We prefer regulatory lawyers with clear fee structures and reasonable pricing since we’re also after the value.
- Customer Service: We considered client feedback regarding how lawyers approach and communicate with them throughout their case.
1. Holborns Adam Limited

Address: 125 Old Broad St
Contact Details: +442038403421, [email protected]
Operating Hours: Monday – Sunday: Open 24 Hours
Holborn Adams is a 24/7 law firm specialising in different types of offences, such as sexual, fraud, and regulatory. Their over 10 years of experience gave us confidence that they’re well-equipped to take on complex regulatory matters.
When it comes to regulatory offences, they cater to a wide range of issues. This includes health and safety investigations, disciplinary investigations, and data protection.
It’s also reassuring that they work with different professional disciplines, like the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), the General Medical Council (GMC), and the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).
It’s also worth mentioning that they have a dedicated regulatory legal expert who handles such cases. It’s a plus for us because it’ll give us the confidence that the solicitor really knows the ins and outs of regulatory law.
Clients also praise the firm’s availability. A client said that he needed a lawyer to talk to during an urgent situation on a Sunday afternoon. No one entertained him except Holborn Adams.
However, since it’s a private law firm, note that they don’t have legal aid. Their rates are also higher than those of other firms.
Proactive and knowledgeable team
“I cannot speak more highly of the team at Holborn Adams. When I found myself in a situation where I needed legal advice, this company were second to none. I’ve never met a team who are so proactive, knowledgeable and driven. Within hours of contacting them, Adam had completely reassured me, I had all options explained to me in language a “non-legal” person like myself could understand easily, and we had a plan to move forward.”
– Mr. Dominic Skinner, Google Review

2. RPC International Law Firm

Address: Tower Bridge House, St Katharine’s Way
Contact Details: +442030606000,
Operating Hours: Monday – Friday: 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM
RPC is an internationally acknowledged law firm with offices in Hong Kong, Bristol, and Singapore. That’s aside from their London office.
For us, their international presence is a strong sign that they’re well-established and capable of handling cross-border regulatory issues.
What we like about their regulatory service is that they have a full regulatory team headed by Gavin Reese, a partner. Gavin has over 30 years of experience in general liability, health and safety, and product law.
His previous cases include ongoing advice for an online platform and representing a high street retailer regarding an investigation concerning asbestos-containing materials.
Another thing we like is the added value they provide once you’re a client. Their regulatory radar keeps you updated on the latest regulatory developments.
They also have tools like AI Guide, Tax Take +, and ReSecure. These can help you monitor your business more effectively.
The only thing that we think you need to prepare for is their fees. Their regulatory team is composed of partners, who charge higher fees than usual solicitors.
Personalised approach
“RPC is the epitome of excellence in legal service! Their personalised approach, led by the exemplary Jeremy Drew, makes me feel valued as a small business. They don’t just offer legal advice; they empower, understand, and anticipate my needs. Their insight is not just impressive, it’s transformational.”

3. Irwin Mitchell Solicitors

Address: The Northcliffe, 28 Tudor St, Temple
Contact Details: +442074043600
Operating Hours: Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Irwin Mitchell is a full-service law firm with various offices in the United Kingdom. They’re experts in family, business, and employment law. Since they’re also into businesses, they also cater to regulatory concerns.
We like that they cover a wide range of aspects concerning regulatory and compliance. For instance, they handle account freezing orders, Companies House prosecutions, and regulatory investigations.
Having all these under one roof is such a convenience, especially for business owners who don’t have much time to search for another reliable firm.
Some of their previous cases include helping a demolition company on compliance issues around a proposed ship-breaking operation. They’ve also guided a car export company facing prosecution from the Environment Agency.
They have over 30 years of strong experience, so it’s no surprise clients describe their service as world-class. We’ve also heard plenty of positive feedback about their personal approach, which makes clients feel they’re genuinely committed.
That said, there’s a trade-off with a full-service firm of this size. They tend to get too busy. In fact, a client said that it’s hard to book appointments with the team.
Supportive, professional, and informative
“Supportive, professional and informative.
I worked with Tina Din; who was helpful and informative throughout the process. She made me feel at ease and truly provided an incredible service. She applied pressure to the other side to ensure momentum continued, which ended in a great result.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Irwin Mitchell and, in particular, Tina for similar situations.
Thank you again!”
– Ms. Anna Couldwell, Google Review

“I’ve had a really good experience with Catriona and truly can’t recommend her highly enough. Her professionalism has made the entire process smooth. I’d be more than happy to have her as my solicitor again.”

4. Rustem Guardian Solicitors

Address: 44 Southampton Buildings
Contact Details: +442039299119
Operating Hours: Monday – Friday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Rustem Guardian Solicitors was founded in 2005 by Timur Rustem, a niche criminal defence solicitor with a reputation for handling high-profile cases.
Although Rustem is a defence solicitor, his firm also caters to a wide range of legal services. This includes immigration, extradition, and financial and corporate crime.
We learned that they handle HMRC investigations, fraud, and health and safety under their financial and corporate crime services. So, for business owners facing regulatory issues or investigations, Rustem can provide representation.
Since they also have experience in handling high-stakes criminal defence cases, we think that they are also well-prepared to deal with sensitive regulatory matters.
Another reason why Rustem is on our list is that they have private and public funding available. This is ideal for those smaller businesses that may not have the resources to cover high legal fees upfront.
The only thing we noticed is that they have a limited team. With their offerings, we feel like it might affect their availability. But at least they’re upfront about it, which we appreciate.
Professional firm
“10/10 professional firm, with realistic and clear expectations from the start. Sophia was a pleasure to work with and ultimately we got the outcome I was looking for! Would highly recommend Rustem Guardian Solicitors to anyone looking for legal help!”
– Ms. M., Google Review
Professional and quick
“I was at ease the moment I walked into Rustem Guardian solicitors and had my first consultation. They completely worked their magic and took control over the whole case. Extremely professional and quick on their feet.
I highly recommend them for any difficult criminal work to be undertaken. I’ve never dealt with better solicitors in all my life.”

5. Olliers Solicitors

Address: Berkeley Suite, 35 Berkeley Square
Contact Details: +442038836790
Operating Hours: Monday – Sunday: Open 24 Hours
Olliers Solicitors specialises in fraud, regulatory offences, and business crime. Unlike other full-service law firms, Olliers has a focus on regulatory law.
They provide expert legal assistance on health and safety, trading standards, and professional discipline. The way they laid out their service makes us think that they really specialise in businesses facing investigation and prosecution by regulators.
We also felt assured that they accept professional discipline cases brought by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
For the areas they cover, it’s good to know that they can advise those who are in food safety, director disqualification, and even insolvency disputes. Some firms are very limited in these regulatory areas, and it’s a relief that Olliers have these.
Their previous cases include a representation of a suspect involved in a National Trading Standards investigation, and residential schools following a warning letter about sexual abuse.
Clients shared that Olliers have calming and attentive solicitors, which lessens the stress in such a difficult legal situation. Names like Nathalie and Laura were even mentioned for being particularly responsive and supportive.
However, please note that their regulatory team is relatively small, which could affect their availability at times. Some clients also noted that the firm has high upfront costs.
Professional service
“The service I received from Laura Baumanis and Olliers was absolutely outstanding. She was professional, knowledgeable and available whilst succeeding to deliver. My family and I will be forever grateful”
– Ms. Ross Armour, Google Review
Excellent service
“Excellent and efficient service from Hope and the team at Olliers. Thank you very much!”
