1. Ormer

Address: Flemings Mayfair, 7-12 Half Moon St
Phone: +44 20 7499 0000
Business hours:
- Mon: 7 AM – 11 AM
- Tue-Sat: 7 AM – 11 AM, 6 PM – 9 PM
- Sun: 8 AM – 12 PM
We would be stupid if we didn’t include a Michelin-starred dining spot in our top list. Ormer is a one-Michelin-starred restaurant that has really impressed us with its curated range of meal courses.
They have a range of multiple-course tasting menus. They can serve meals from five to seven courses, giving diners flexibility when choosing.
We tried their five-course vegan menu and really loved the smoked onions’ melt-in-your-mouth texture. The glazed white asparagus has a delicate, slightly sweet, and subtly nutty flavour that most sweet food lovers will enjoy feasting on.
We also love how knowledgeable the bartenders are. They always provide insightful explanations about their wine pairings. They’re also not too formal, so there’s no pretentious vibe, and you’re able to relax.
Additionally, we appreciate that some of their ingredients are local and fresh. They’re all harvested from their own eco-friendly kitchen garden, so you know they’re really fresh.
It’s only disappointing that they don’t accommodate guests during lunchtime. This is a big loss for a Michelin-starred restaurant (and for us, of course).
The food and service were outstanding
“We had a wonderful evening at Ormer Mayfair. The food and service were outstanding. We’ve been to a couple of Michelin-starred restaurants before but this was definitely one of the best. The finesse that went into every single course was remarkable, service was friendly, charming and attentive, and prices were absolutely affordable for what was on offer. Very happy we chose this establishment for our anniversary. Highly recommended! Thanks to the Ormer Mayfair team for this memorable experience.”

Worth every penny
“While the food and atmosphere were amazing, it is the people that make this a memorable experience. Rather than maintain a formal atmosphere, the staff at Ormer is very willing to have some fun and help you learn about the food, wine and preparation. There were no “stupid” questions that they wouldn’t answer for us. We experienced the five course tasting menu with some of their classic dishes as well as the pigeon – prepared two ways. The sommelier (Pieter?) was a wonderful storyteller and gave us insights into his wine selections. Who knew there was a wine that smelled of tomato vines? Worth every penny of cost. What I also liked is that the staff was very willing to relieve guests of their hats, sunglasses, coats, briefcases, etc. that they would have held onto in other restaurants. They did this with tact and it made the evening more special.”

2. Goodman

If you’re looking for a dining spot with a sophisticated feel, we highly recommend Goodman. It has an upscale yet cosy ambience, making us feel elegant and comfortable at the same time.
We love their extensive wine selection. They have fortified, sweet, and many more kinds you can choose from. We drank one of their California collection wines, the vintage 2005 Sirius wine, and we loved the texture and ripeness of it.
As a steakhouse, their beef selection is undeniably high-quality. They have an aging room that allows the beef to undergo a natural maturation process, which helps make them more tender and flavourful.
What’s great is that they have spacious outdoor seating. Imagine the fun of having tasty meals with your crew in an open area, enjoying each other’s company.
Their private dining option is also worth mentioning. The room is spacious enough to accommodate up to 28 people, and its various layouts are pleasing to the eye.
However, as an upscale restaurant, they’re a bit more expensive than most restaurants.
Incredible food and service
“Incredible food and service. The steak was insanely delicious, we shared Australian Sirloin and Chateaubriand with lots of lovely sides. The red wine was also perfect! The waitress we had was excellent – explained all the cuts of meat, made helpful suggestions and was attentive throughout our visit. The only thing for feedback is to make the interior brighter as it’s quite dark, and perhaps some more options for dessert that are more traditional / chocolate based. But honestly everything was so good!”

One of my favourite places to eat in London
“If you want to have the best Steak in London then look no further. I had a Wagyu Rib-Eye and my friend had a sirloin – we shared and both were absolutley WOWZERS! I will definitely be back. I also had the crab toast, which was ‘lick the plate’ delicious and my friend had the prawn tempura – I did have a taste of that and loved it – wish we had more space in our tummys for more of this amazing food. All the staff were just simply brilliant, fabulously attentive and friendly. One of my new favorite places to eat in London!!!!! Oh and dont forget the yummiest Truffle and Parmesan Chips, I felt like I was in heaven.”

3. Noble Rot

Noble Rot has partnered with a wine society that stores rare and mature wine bottles in their cellar. It’s no wonder they have such a wide range of rare and mature wines.
We actually tried the only sparkling wine on the rare list, and we like its tangy note. It’s worth trying and definitely pairs well with the restaurant’s set lunch menu.
The set menu itself is solid value. We love the additional sides included in every option, such as potatoes and salad.
Another highlight for us was the outdoor terrace seating. There’s something relaxed and enjoyable about just sitting on the side of a street, sipping wine with friends.
And while the food and wine are impressive, it’s the staff that really makes the experience. Most guests we spoke to praised their staff for being always one call away when they need something.
The only problem is that they have a service charge. It’s quite big (more than 10%), so you might consider it before visiting.
See you again soon
“Absolutely fantastic. Seriously good value for money in this neck of the woods. Emily was great, super-helpful, polite, efficient and friendly. The food was outstanding and we’ll definitely be back for more. November 2024 update – we’ve just had our third visit to Noble Rot and are still loving this restaurant. This time we sat upstairs for dinner which felt more cosy and a nicer environment. Alex took care of us throughout the evening, giving us suggestions and tips on what to choose. Everything we ate and drank was excellent yet again. Have added some more photos of some of our selection. If you’ve not been here you’re really missing a treat! See you again soon!”

No music necessary
“Wine is a given. Food is a proper job. Tucked away in Shepherd’s Market, a superlative wine list and proper cooking at reasonable prices; excellent gougeres and a nice dry Spanish white; with a Vosne Bourgogne: Dorset crab salad; stuffed cockles parsley and garlic; great beet salad; scallops and cafe de paris butter; super pigs head, crushed white beans with green sauce; apple cake and calvados toffee sauce. Friendly efficient service in a traditional ambiance. Great lunch. No music necessary. Bravo! 🐌🐌🐌”

4. Scott’s

Address: 20 Mount St
Phone: +44 20 7495 7309
Business hours:
- Mon-Wed: 12 PM – 9:30 PM
- Thu-Sat: 12 PM – 10:30 PM
- Sun: 12 PM – 9:15 PM
We like the vibrant atmosphere Scott’s has, especially at night. The place has colourful decorations and bright lighting that gives it a lively and energetic ambience perfect for all-day fun.
For veggie lovers, you will surely love their vegetarian menu. They serve six veggie dishes. We recommend trying their fried zucchini flower. It contains Australian black truffle, giving it a strong, subtly sweet, and earthy flavour.
Beyond that, they have an extensive a la carte menu. This gives diners more flexibility on what they want to eat and control the portions. You can have numerous kinds of oysters, shellfish, and many more.
But the most impressive feature is definitely the restaurant’s own wine collection. Their own-label, Chablis collection, features three kinds, and we tried them all. The Chablis 1er Cru Côte de Jouan stands out due to its sweet, sour, and spicy kick.
We’re only concerned about some of the customers’ sentiments about their customer service. A few complained about slow response times, with staff taking a while to follow up on requests. It may have just been an off day, but it’s something to keep in mind.
A legendary London restaurant
“A legendary London restaurant. Scott’s is the epitome of quiet luxury, nestled on the bustling Mount Street in the heart of the city’s most exclusive neighbourhood. But step inside Scott’s, and you quickly forget about the noise and drama of London. Even on a busy weekend, Scott’s always seems to have the perfect dining atmosphere. The food is always exceptional. They excel at the basics, but aren’t afraid to experiment with their specials – this SE Asian style Brill fillet cooked in peanut and lobster sauce. You’ll never be disappointed if you dine here – one of London’s very best.”

Beautiful restaurant and definitely recommended
“Visited Scott’s today as the restaurant looked appealing, I was a little apprehensive walking in without a booking as I have 2 full sleave tattoos and sometimes find certain places judgemental, however this was not the case here. We were seated by a lovely waitress who was very informative. The food was exceptional, wonderful oysters, my husbands steak was cooked exactly as asked and the Lobster was amazing. The waiting staff were very attentive and at no time did we have to pour our own water or wine which is a service we’ve not experienced in other 5 star restaurants. I love art and the waitress showed us the restaurants art collection which was wonderful. Beautiful restaurant and definitely recommend. Prices are what they are, if you require exceptional food and service, then be willing to pay for it.”

If you’re looking for a quality dining spot for a romantic date with your significant other, we highly recommend Kitty Fisher’s. We noticed that it has an intimate ambience that fosters a sense of closeness and warmth for diners.
We appreciate their effort in having an ever-changing menu. As they say, their menus roll with the season, so expect that you’ll always have something new to feast on if you frequent this restaurant.
Their house cocktails are also worth spending money on, especially their bestseller, Bad Kitty. It contains two kinds of gins, lemon, and other mixes that make it stand out above the rest of their other cocktails.
Another charming touch? Kitty Fisher’s is dog-friendly. We loved seeing couples enjoying their evening with their well-behaved pups by their side. It adds a relaxed, personal feel to the whole dining experience.
Like other restaurants on our list, they have an Instagrammable private dining spot. Their Kitty’s Club Room offers sweeping views of the vibrant Shepherd Market, making it picture-perfect inside and outside its area.
That said, they have a relatively small space compared to other restaurants on the list. If you’re fine with being surrounded by many friendly people, it will not be a big deal.
Don’t miss this restaurant
“We had the best meal here before heading home from our London trip. The restaurant is small but filled with warm and friendly staff. Besides serving excellent food, their staff made extra effort to help my mom finding a toilet without her walking the stairs (she has knee problems). They escorted her and brought her back making sure she didn’t get lost. The other thing I must say is the food. They were extremely delicious. I love the Galloway rib steak, the crispy potatoes and the whipped cod roe in toast. Love their cocktails too. Don’t miss this restaurant, it’s worth making a reservation and paying the deposit.”

Highly recommended
“A unique, welcoming and friendly place to visit. All of the staff including the owner and the barman were warm and inviting and made our experience very enjoyable. The decor and vibe immediately put my wife and I in a great mood and that lasted from start to finish. Food was delicious, from the treacle bread, pea soup to the lovely cut of beef rib. Desserts were spot on as well with the classic European approach of being rich without being overly sweet. Highly recommended and can’t wait to return again on my next trip to London.”
