So, it’s only fair to look for shutters that do more than just block the sun. The perfect shutters can give you that “ahh” feeling every time you walk into the room—clean lines, striking charm, and blissful seclusion from the outside world.
In this blog, I featured the best shutters in London that tick all the boxes—elegant design, solid craftsmanship, and just enough privacy to keep prying eyes and nosy birds at bay.
How much do shutters cost in London?
Shutters in London cost around £200 to £500 per square metre. A full-service installation by professionals, including measuring and the actual installation, can be over £350 per square metre.
How I chose the best shutters in London
- Service quality: I looked for shops that can install shutters without disturbing the client’s daily routine at home. It’s also important that they leave the house clean once they are finished.
- Range of services: I picked stores that can measure windows and provide on-the-spot quotations, aside from installing shutters.
- Range of options: I selected the ones that provide many shutter styles, materials, and colours.
- Customer service quality: I opted for those who respond quickly to concerns and questions. I also considered if they knew how to respect their clients’ time by arriving on time on the day of the scheduled appointment.
- Value for money: I chose shops that provide top-quality products at a reasonable price based on their previous clients’ feedback.

I was very amazed by London Interior Shutters’ extensive range of colour options. They offer 48 kinds of colours for their shutters, so you have many colours to choose from on all the materials they use.
Speaking of, they use four types of materials for their shutters. The notable one is their hybrid material made of medium-density fiberboard (MDF) and acrylonitrile styrene (ABS). Other materials they offer are MDF, hardwood, and waterproof.
I appreciate the eight styles of shutters that they have. It’s a comparatively wide range of styles compared to some shops. Some styles of shutters that they can install include full-height, tiered, and cafe shutters.
The range where they can install shutters is another plus. They can effectively put shutters in six areas within your home. Some of those areas are the kitchen, bathroom, and living room.
That said, the only weak point is their relatively small team. They only have four members on their team, making it difficult to book them during peak season.

It’s awesome that Plantation Shutters have been operating since the ‘80s. A business will not achieve this longevity if its services are meh. Their over four decades of excellence in the industry are more than enough for them to be on my top list.
I’m a big fan of their seven shutter styles. Their custom-shaped shutters option is interesting. They can install any odd shape you can think of on windows and doors. Some other styles they offer are solid, cafe, and tracked shutters.
Their offering of six types of materials is fascinating as well. Some materials they use are craftwood, pearlwood, and express faux wood shutters.
What’s great is that they have a showroom. This allows you to see, touch, and feel all the products they sell before you make a confident purchase decision.
I was only disappointed in their pricey custom colour-matching service. They offer this service for £300 per order. You can get the same service in some shops for only £150!

Shutters Factory having their own factory is a green flag for me (excuse the repetition). This means you will get more affordable shutters from them that match the quality of most great shops.
Another advantage is the relatively fast lead time for some materials they offer. The best example is their Mimeo composite shutters that they can install in as fast as four weeks! Take note that the typical lead time for most shops is around 10-12 weeks.
Their Luma easy-fit shutter material is worth the attention. It only requires a basic installation process, as it can be installed without drilling through the walls.
They offer nine different shutter styles, the largest on my list. You can either have a tracked bifold or a tracked bypass shutter. Other styles you can have are blackout, solid, and cafe-style shutters.
The only thing I could critique about them is the long lead time for some materials they make. Some can be installed in as long as 14 weeks.

Shutters Forever is another shop on my best list that offers a wide range of shutter colours. They have 20 paint colours you can choose from for your beloved home.
It’s also nice that they have six shutter styles to offer. Their commercial-style shutters are worth mentioning. They can be installed in any kind of store, offering solid protection from burglars.
When it comes to materials, they have four types. They use the mortise and tenon joinery technique in assembling most of their materials. The only exception to this is their Earth shutters, which are made from aluminium.
I appreciate that they offer hand-carved rails in some materials they use. It adds a distinct feature to every shutter they make, sort of like a signature.
However, it’s underwhelming that they provide limited colour options in some materials. There’s a material where you can only pick from six colours.

I love The Traditional Shutter Company’s shutter range offerings. They have four ranges, and the one that stands out is the traditional range. True to their name, their traditional range provides conventional design window shutters.
Other ranges they offer are California, Miami, and the Florida range. Each one uses various tilt rods and fits different louvre sizes.
Speaking of, they are another shop on my top list that offers three tilt rod options. You have the choice to place it somewhere hidden, on the side, or in the middle of the shutters.
Lastly, I admire them for being the only shop on my list that accepts full commercial projects. They take large volume projects from hotels, offices, and other businesses.
The only minor setback I noticed is their unclear service areas. It’s not specific to say that you’re operating in London when it encompasses a wide area.
