So, you’ve finally decided to clear out the attic and finally deal with the pile of junk that’s been mocking you for months. You’ll just need some trash bags, a few bins, and maybe a little help from a trusted mate. Sounds easy?
That’s until you realise a few bins could barely hold a tenth of your stuff. Suddenly, the entire thing feels like a joke, and you end up spending hours finding the right skip to get your life together.
But why bother with the search when you’re already occupied with decluttering? I’ve found the best skip hires in London through research and countless interviews with past clients.
Once you’re ready to say goodbye to junk for good, here’s where you can start.
| How much does skip hire cost in London? The cost of skip hire ranges from £135 to £175 for small skips, £220 to £400 for mid-sized skips, and £330 to £450 for large skips. Skip hire prices depend on the skip size, hire duration, waste type, and location. |
How I chose the best skip hires in London
Pricing: I compared pricing structures across multiple companies to determine which offered the best balance between affordability and service quality.
Range of skip sizes and services: I took note of the variety of skip sizes offered by each company to accommodate different types of projects. I also assessed if they offer same-day delivery and wait-and-load options.
Service coverage: I looked into the areas each skip hire company covered within London and its surrounding boroughs. I also observed how easy it was to check availability, get a quote, and book a skip online.
Customer support: I evaluated the quality of customer service based on responsiveness. I contacted providers directly to test how well they handled inquiries and booking adjustments.
Payment options: I compared the payment flexibility across the websites and customer portals. I preferred those that accepted multiple payment methods and offered clear billing and receipts.
1. Skip It Waste Management LTD

Location: The Chalk Pit, College Rd
Contact: +44 20 7384 1221
Opening Hours: Monday – Friday: 6:30 AM – 5:30 PM, Saturday: 7:00 AM – 1:00 PM
When I tried Skip It, the entire thing was just seamless. The booking process was fast, allowing clients to secure a skip and have it delivered on time.
Pricing is average and transparent. They honour their quotes and have no hidden charges in billing.
The value for money is further extended to their offerings. The range of skip sizes is great, from small domestic options to larger commercial skips.
Same-day and next-day delivery are both available as well.
One of the major advantages I see is that they deal with permits and regulatory compliance too. This is a plus for businesses that need skips to be placed on public roads.
Just take note that the company is not licensed to accept certain hazardous waste. You need a specialist provider for this.
Communication more than makes up for this. As I’ve gathered from clients, they’re easy to reach via WhatsApp. In fact, when issues arise, all they need to do is send a message, and the issue will be addressed.
Polite, helpful, and efficient
“transit waste removal in SW19. The gentleman was very polite, helped me load the van. The job was completed efficiently as he assisted throughout. He had great manners and arrived early. Thank you for the excellent service!”

2. Sortera

Location: 6 Weir Rd, London
Contact: +44 330 094 4944
Opening Hours: Monday – Friday: 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Sortera offers a versatile selection of skips, from 4 to 12 cubic yards. I also like that they handle multiple waste types, including mixed construction debris, household items, and recyclables.
Reliability is a strong factor too. Delivery of skips is always on time, with same-day and next-day services.
When it comes to interacting with their staff, everything is seamless. They don’t use AI chatbots, which is nice, so responses are fast and honest.
Clients get updates via text and email during booking, delivery, and pickup. Even late-night emails are addressed first thing the next day.
On the rough side, there were a few complaints with unhelpful responses during disputes.
As for the service itself, I can say they’re skilled and professional. Drivers handle skips in challenging spaces such as narrow streets and alleyways.
Skip placements are strategic to avoid damage to driveways, hedges, or blockwork.
I only hear a few complaints about permitting issues, which led to delays in skip placement.
Five-star service
“Absolutely brilliant service from these guys – they say what they mean and actually turn up on time, which in the building trade is basically a miracle! Timekeeping? Spot on. Work ethic? Solid. Attitude? Friendly, professional, and they even laugh at your bad jokes. I’m honestly impressed. They got the job done without any drama, mess, or disappearing acts. Highly appreciated, highly recommended, and I’ll definitely be using them again and again. Five stars and a brew for them! ☕👍”

3. London Skip Hire Ltd

Location: 7 Lyon Rd, London
Contact: +44 20 8542 3333
Opening Hours: Monday – Friday: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Saturday: 7:00 AM – 12:00 AM
London Skip has over 50 years of experience. They offer services to both residential and commercial clients across Greater London.
I liked that they offer a full spectrum of skip sizes. Clients can access everything, from 2-yard mini skips to 40-yard roll-on/roll-off containers.
The thing that makes them stand out from the rest is that they’re fully licensed by the Environmental Agency. They recycle over 98% of the waste collected, which is a major plus for eco-conscious clients.
Pricing is transparent and competitive, with clear quotes and no hidden fees. I also like how careful and safe their drivers are. They protect property during delivery and pickup, minimising disruption and damage.
Local coverage is also pretty solid. They operate across Wimbledon, Kingston, Brixton, Sutton, and Wandsworth.
Just take note that availability can be tight during peak construction seasons.
The only thing missing for me was their online booking system. It could be modernised for quicker scheduling, though calling them for services is pretty fast too.
Super helpful and courteous
“I am really glad I chose this company and ordered their wait and load skip service.
It was on a narrow road, but they agreed to come. The driver was super helpful and courteous, top quality customer service and good price. I would definitely use again, and recommend to everyone. 5/5”

Contact: +44 20 4572 3641
Opening Hours: Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Saturday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Enviro Skip Hire offers a full selection of waste management services. They also provide wait and load services, grab lorry hire, asbestos disposal, and more.
I like that they provide same-day services across London and Essex. On top of that, flexibility is strong – clients mentioned being able to change their delivery and collection dates easily without hassle.
The rates are among the most affordable. Quotes are clear, and there are no surprise charges during billing.
Drivers are highly skilled. In fact, many of the clients I spoke to said that they were able to access tight points easily. For pick up and delivery, this ensures a safe process without risk of property damage.
Environmental consciousness is a strong point too. The company is partnered with over 1,000 licensed waste management professionals for responsible waste handling across the UK.
There were just a few communication lapses during busy periods. On some days, specific skip sizes have limited availability too.
Nonetheless, everything else is up to standard.
Very helpful and knowledgeable
“The guy on phone was very helpful and knowledgable. Skip was a good price. Skip arrived on time. The driver was experienced and got in my awkward gate without any damage to gates or drive. Would order again and recommend.”

All round good service
“Turned up when supposed to. Ordered a four yard which they didn’t have on the day so they sent a six, no extra charge, no complaints from me. Office staff very helpful. Arrived before me to clear the skip, lights, and tarp neatly folded in front garden. All round good service. Thanks.”

5. London Local Skips Ltd

Location: London Local Skips Ltd
Contact: +44 7910 018045
Opening Hours: Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Saturday: 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM
London Local Skips offer a wide range of services for both commercial and residential clients. Skips come in a wide variety of sizes, from 8 to 16 yards.
Delivery and collection are both seamless. The majority of the clients reported that they offer same-day and next-day services. We heard no instances of delays as well, which is always a major plus.
Drivers are careful and precise, able to place skips perfectly, even in narrow or awkward places. Their skills allow for careful handling, so clients don’t have to worry about property damage.
We also like that they handle council permit applications with ease. This is ideal for businesses that need skips to be placed on public streets.
They’re fully registered with the Environmental Agency as well.
The only hiccup we encountered is that phone responsiveness is inconsistent during busy periods. Service areas feel limited too, as they primarily serve North and East London.
Though, to be fair, most of their clientele are in these areas.
Smooth and professional service
“I recently used London Local Skips for a major clear-out and couldn’t be happier with the service. From the initial phone call, the booking process was quick and painless. The representative was helpful and made sure I ordered the right size skip. The delivery was exactly on time, and the driver was professional and managed to get the skip into a tricky spot without any fuss. Collection was just as smooth. It’s rare to find a company that is so reliable and professional from start to finish. I’ll definitely be using them again and highly recommend them!”
