So when I first brought my dog Max home, I wanted to make sure he had everything he needed to feel happy, safe, and comfortable. Whether it’s a tasty treat or a bed, I wanted only the best ones for him.
That’s why I decided to scour London for the best shops that truly understand what dogs need. I wanted places that prioritize quality and care over brands and profit.
After much research and a couple of trips to various pet shops in the city, I finally found my favourites—the ones I’d always go to every time my Max needs something. Check them out on this list.
How I chose the best dog pet shops in London
- Customer service: I opted for shops that reply fast to online inquiries, address all concerns properly, and are respectful to both the pet and the owner.
- Product quality: The shops on this list garnered favourable feedback from customers about the aesthetic and durability of their products.
- Service quality: For shops that offer grooming services, I ensured they don’t stress dogs during the session. I also ensure they know how to follow instructions from pet owners about grooming specifications.

I was impressed with Lily’s (the owner) over 30 years of designing experience. You can see her extensive knowledge through the comfortable and stylish designs of her products.
When I talked to other customers, many also praised the products for their high quality and durability. After buying a collar myself, I can totally agree with them. It has held up beautifully so far, so it was definitely worth the investment.
What also stood out was that all of LISH’s products are handmade. Lily personally oversees every stage of the process. I think that hands-on involvement helps ensure the materials are sustainably sourced, and the quality stays consistent.
What I love the most, though, is that they craft bespoke products. Customers can propose an idea or bring a sketch, and the team will try their best to turn the concept into reality.
The only problem is that they don’t offer grooming services. So, if you’re looking for a one-stop shop, you might have to check the other entries on this list.

“The Lish London dog carrier is wonderful and better than any other I have found! The small size perfectly fits my Havanese puppy, Jax, with some additional room for him to grow. In this image, he is a very small 11-week Havanese puppy @ 3 lbs. The carrier is thick and plush, and Jax loves it! He jumps into it for short daytime naps, and enjoys his time while being carried around in it. Delivery from the UK to Canada was quick with no hiccups. I could not be happier!”

What’s great about Bow Wow is that they sell products from various brands. This gives you the choice to buy products from a brand that you love or trust the most.
I also love the wide range of accessories they sell. They’ve got clothes, beds, training treats, and other supplies. They also offer many kinds of shampoos and training treats that will surely motivate your dog to be obedient.
When I was browsing their store, it really felt like I could buy almost all my dog’s needs.
They also offer amazing grooming services. Several customers I spoke with mentioned how happy their pups seemed after a grooming session, which I think says a lot about how gentle and caring the staff must be.
Plus, the groomers are really good at following detailed instructions when it comes to haircuts. This is such a huge relief for many parents who are very particular about their pup’s look.
That said, one of the customers I spoke to was a bit upset after trying to return a product. Even though Bow Wow had told him he could return items within 14 days if they didn’t fit, his return was rejected after just a week.

The difference has been night and day. Our puppy is literally over the moon every time she sees Suki and Mari — we’re pretty sure they just play with her the whole time because she comes back so happy and relaxed! “Highly recommended BowWow. We took our dog Aungpao in first time for grooming, as they seem to have good reviews and good profile pictures on other dogs have have done before, they can do style we want our dog to look like too. As a family we are very happy on first visit, would go back again to Japanese Stylish groomer. She is very nice and kind. We travelled from. Oxford to London with high expectations, its very close to what we’ve asked, we do understand dog have different hair thickness but still came out lovely. We satisfied with the outcome. What really stood out about George’s to me is the amount of praise their staff receives from the people I talked to. They were described as caring and considerate, which are very important for someone like me who only wants what’s best for my dog.
Their grooming service is also impressive. Many of the customers I talked to shared that their pups smelled really good after the service. One of them even stated that her dog was “smelling divine” when she picked him up.
I also appreciate that they offer a bespoke grooming service. It allows fur parents to achieve the unique look they want for their pup.
When it comes to products, I really loved their selection of walking accessories. They offer a complete range of products, from walking essentials like collars to waste bags.
The only downside worth mentioning is their relatively short time in business, with just over three years of operation. They don’t have an established track record, unlike more experienced shops, which can make other pet parents doubt their skills.
Super friendly, super knowledgeable, and super professional
“If you are looking for a super friendly, super knowledgeable and super professional groomers then George’s is for you! They gave my notoriously stubborn Japanese Akita a lovely groom and de-shed and he came out looking silky smooth and most importantly very happy! At other groomers we have had trouble with our Akita leaving extremely irritated after de-sheds since he has sensitive skin, but all the products used at George’s were all completely natural, leaving no irritation at all. We were invited into the back and able to choose a scent for his groom too and felt very comfortable leaving him in Lilac’s care. Can not recommend George’s to you enough.”

“Lovely boutique inside with great products. I take my puppies here for regular grooming and the service is amazing. The team of George’s is very caring and calm with our dogs. You can feel the love for animals as soon as you walk in the doors. I have been to many groomers in the past with my previous dogs and George’s by far is the best. Holly&Lil has been grooming dogs and selling dog products for over 20 years, making them the longest-running shop on my top list. And you can really see the longevity in the quality products and services they offer.
True to their business name, they sell a range of stylish collars. They have simple ones and those with fancy decorations, catering to owners with various preferences on how they want to style their pups.
Another green flag is the various styles of harnesses they offer. There are ones that look like a necktie, and there are also harnesses that take up a dog’s whole body.
The best part is that they even offer bespoke collars and leads, perfect for fashionista owners who want their pets to stand out among the rest.
I was only concerned about some of their customers’ comments about the punctuality of some of their groomers. Some of them told me that there were occasions when their groomer was late for the session, which is inconvenient if you’re in a rush.

“Met a friendly puppy name Sophie during an evening walk in Bedford, Nova Scotia, Canada. Absolutely adorable k9 wearing a remarkably flashy (but tasteful) blinged out collar. The pup-parent explained to us where the collar was designed and created.. I like that all Pet Mania staff are dog owners. This ensures the people who’ll deal with your pup during the grooming session have genuine knowledge and, most importantly, care for dogs.
What’s great is that they offer a drop-and-shop service. This is beneficial for those who want to go shopping without their pups but have no one to rely on to look after them.
Additionally, I love that they offer a wider product selection than most competitors across all categories. From leads and grooming equipment to dog food and supplies, they offer a wide variety to choose from.
Lastly, their well-praised nail trimming service is a huge plus for me. Most of the customers I spoke to expressed amazement at how beautiful their dogs’ nails are after the session.
Although most of their customers love their products and services, I noticed something about the shop’s atmosphere. It has a run-down establishment vibe that made me feel uncomfortable during my visit.

“Cannot praise all the staff at Pet Mania enough! We were initially turned away from another groomers as our dog Paolo was too much to handle. However he has had no issues at Pet Mania and that is down to the patience, love and so much kindness shown to him. Paolo is a former rescue and can be reactive in certain situations but handles being groomed by all members of staff and has built a strong trust and bond. We moved away from area but still travel 40 minutes every 6 weeks for Paolo’s groom as we cannot fault the service.”

They are incredibly patient
“I have been coming to pet mania for my very overly pampered dog Kenzo since I got him. I am not the easiest of customers as I have a very particular style I like Kenzo groomed. At pet mania, they are incredibly patient and Gina is a diamond. Honest and humble. As is her team. I really appreciate theit efforts. If I ask for changes, or at times, the cut is not up to the way I like, they put it right there and there. A brilliant business with understanding as the core values for it’s customers.
