The 5 best employment lawyers in London who’ll really work for you!

My friend never thought she’d need a solicitor, especially an employment lawyer. But then she called me out of the blue, asking for advice regarding her situation. Her manager handed her a termination letter without clarifying things.

My first reaction was, “Is that even legal?” That’s when she asked for help to find a lawyer.

So I turned to my colleagues at Wunderlust London, and together, we started digging into employment lawyers in London. We wanted to find lawyers who could actually help make sense of my friend’s situation and fight back if needed.

If you ever find yourself in a similar spot, this list might help. We’ve listed down the best employment lawyers in London that we found during our search.

How much do employment lawyers charge?

How we chose

  • Experience: We selected lawyers with years of experience in handling employment law and who know the ins and outs of different work-related cases.
  • Expertise: We picked law firms whose expertise revolves around wrongful dismissal, discrimination, and other legal disputes.
  • Pricing: We chose solicitors who have reasonable pricing on simple and complex cases.
  • Dispute resolution strategies: For us, a reliable employment lawyer should know when to negotiate, mediate, and escalate a case.

1. Gordon Turner Employment Lawyers

Operating Hours: Monday – Friday: 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM

Gordon Turner Employment Lawyers is a nationwide firm focused on settlement agreements. Their office is in London, but they also offer their services in Birmingham, Manchester, and the Home Counties for greater reach to employees.

Since they’re only focused on settlement agreements, they also offer same-day service. So if you’re looking to solve workplace disputes quickly, this is good news for you.

What we really love about the firm is how accessible they are. The service is essentially “no cost” since your employer will pay for it. Plus, they offer free initial consultations from their solicitors, which can help you assess your situation better.

However, once the case is closed and you didn’t win, you’ll shoulder the solicitor’s fee. Their fixed fee starts at £250 to £500 (reasonable enough).

We like their strategy in helping clients have favourable exits and avoid costly tribunal claims as much as possible. It includes negotiating for a fair severance package and making sure that all your accrued sick and vacation time is paid.

In fact, a previous client who experienced racial discrimination at work got compensated with an amount very different from what her employer initially offered.

However, here’s one thing to note. One client complained that she received unscheduled calls without being asked to confirm her availability first.

Pros

  • Years of experience in employment law
  • Focused on settlement agreements
  • Transparent
  • Reasonable fee
  • Donates to charities
  • Great approach to work-related issues

Cons

  • Poor communication
  • Makes unscheduled calls

Patient, fast, and reassuring

“There is no one I would recommend more. Gordon managed a very difficult situation from start to finish with speed. He kept me updated and was patient when explaining everything to me. It was a situation that shocked me, and Gordon reassured me all the way. Gordon secured me a settlement that I didn’t even know I would be entitled to.

Thank you again, Gordon. I appreciate all of your support and guidance. You made a very stressful process, simple!”

-Ms. Corrina Abbott, Google Review

Responsive, effective, and professional

“About 5/6yrs ago, I faced a really bad situation at work involving racial discrimination, which led to an unfair dismissal. Gordon and his team were responsive, effective and professional, leading to a compensation that was vastly different from what my employer tried to pay me off. I’m grateful for his help all those times ago and will continue referring my friends to his legal service. I highly recommend him.”

Herefords Employment Solicitors is another nationwide agency serving England and Wales. They handle settlements, employer, and employee cases.

Their settlement agreement service is pretty convenient. You can get same-day advice, and it can be done online. After getting a call and finalising the agreement, they’ll have the papers delivered to you so you can sign them.

Another thing we like about Herefords is that they work for both employees and employers. This gives them an advantage in seeing the thought processes of two sides.

Most of their previous clients dealt with redundancy periods. One client thanked Herefords for the smooth process of his redundancy as his UK company shuts down.

Meanwhile, an employee praised the team for making his dispute with his employer less stressful. He highlighted that the team taught him to fight regardless of how big the company is (as long as you’re in the right).

However, we found out that they’re a bit expensive. For simple cases, they usually charge £3,000 to £6,000. A medium case starts at £5,000 to £7,000, while a complex one can range up to £13,000.

Pros

  • Works for the employee and the employer
  • Polite and caring solicitors
  • Reputable company
  • Years of experience in employment law

Cons

  • Limited solicitors available
  • Expensive fees

Kind, clear, and supportive

“I had a fantastic experience working with Zahir. He was kind, clear, and incredibly supportive throughout what could have been a stressful process. I felt fully informed and reassured every step of the way. His professionalism and warmth made a real difference — highly recommend!”

-Ms. Gloria Di Martino, Google Review

Professional and amazing work

“Required a Solicitor to assist with a settlement agreement. Was recommended by a friend and can honestly say I am not disappointed. Zahir, who took care of my case, was amazing. Handled everything professionally and made things very easy and simple. Would definitely recommend Hereford Solicitors to anyone looking.”

BSquare Employment Law is a boutique firm focused on helping employees. It’s a senior-led company composed of seven partners with at least 15 years of experience in employment law.

They might not be the biggest firm, but many are happy with their service. They handle tribunal representation, employment advice, and settlement agreements.

A client shared that one of their solicitors, named Hardeep, supported her in reviewing the settlement agreement. She explained each clause clearly and suggested some improvements to better protect her interests.

Another employee commended Chris Hogg for negotiating firmly on his unfair dismissal. He said that his solicitor saw the tactics quickly and acted right away. This helped him regain his professional pride and confidence.

Talk about the costs? Their settlement agreements are at £400 to £800 (VAT-exclusive). For us, it’s a good rate since it’s a fixed fee. Plus, with the free initial consultation on top, you’re getting good value for your money.

The only thing that we don’t like is that they have a very limited number of lawyers. This can make it hard to secure an appointment with them.

Pros

  • Gives senior-level advice from their partners
  • Experienced solicitors with years of experience
  • Free initial consultation
  • Fast and responsive solicitors
  • Excellent communication
  • Reasonable fixed rate

Cons

  • Limited number of solicitors available

Responsive and efficient

“I contacted them after doing some online research and needing advice on a settlement agreement. Working without a recommendation is always unnerving. But they were responsive and efficient throughout the process. Whilst my process was straightforward, I felt confident from our discussions and their questions that they would have picked up and managed a more complex process to a good outcome.”

-Mr. Peter Stansbury, Google Review

Excellent service

“Outstanding service from first call to settlement. Hardeep Kular’s service and advice were excellent. She is extremely knowledgeable and wants the best for you. Would recommend to anybody needing support.”

Monaco Solicitors is another employment law specialist in London serving employees only. In 2024, they became the UK Legal Award Winner for leading specialists in employee representation.

For us, that’s a plus point since it talks about their dedication to helping employees fight for their rights. From settlements to redundancy, they assist employees in seeking justice.

In fact, a previous client highlighted Fiammetta De Leo’s exceptional professionalism in assisting him in Italian. There are no language barriers, which made him feel more at ease and comfortable throughout the process.

Another also shared that his solicitor, Rubel Bashir, has a calm approach. This approach made a big difference in his case that even though the outcome isn’t exactly what he hoped for, he still had a great experience with Monaco.

Pricing-wise? Their fixed fee is £400 plus VAT and another 10% success fee (depending on the settlement amount). To be honest, it’s a bit expensive if you compare it with other firms.

Pros

  • Reputable firm
  • Award-winning employment law agency
  • Years of experience
  • Has no no-win, no-fee option (for eligible cases)
  • Professional solicitors
  • Transparent

Cons

  • Can be expensive

Extremely helpful and quick

Simrath was extremely helpful with my employment case. This was my first time receiving a settlement agreement, but she explained everything to me clearly, and I was kept informed at every step. I had a really tight deadline to complete this, but Simrath contacted me immediately after I submitted my enquiry and sorted this out so quickly. Highly recommend requesting to speak to Simrath at Monaco Solicitors!!”

-Mr. Faiza H., Google Review

Exceptional service and attentiveness

“Hardeep was quick to help me on a settlement agreement matter. Not only did she take enough time to understand my particulars, she was impartial enough to make factual and sound recommendations on the best course of action for me as an employee. On top of that, the way she responded, the exceptional service care and attentiveness, made me feel confident and assured by my choice of solicitors.”
