Pros

  • Specialises in designing residential spaces
  • Large work portfolio
  • Offers a wide range of ideas and styles, mostly fun and quirky
  • Famous for room makeovers
  • Also provides outdoor makeovers
  • Connections with high-street stores
  • Affordable rates

Cons

  • No experience for commercial spaces

J Stanley Interiors has only been in business since 2018, but their impressive work portfolio astounds us. The company’s owner is a well-travelled interior designer, so you’ll be exposed to a wide range of ideas and styles –  many of which are unlike anything you’ve seen before.

We’ve heard they’re famous for room makeovers, so it goes without saying that they’re an excellent choice if you want to revitalise your own space. They even have official sourcing from designer and high-street stores for that extra “oomph” you need.

Their makeover service is actually quite affordable, at least in our opinion, with prices starting at £250. This includes any and all assistance you require from them, such as a consultation meeting, inspiration board, shopping list, and final styling.

However, their services are not limited to this; they can also design the interior of your new home with promising project management. In fact, they can collaborate with any architect or builder of your choice to design complete schemes, including material sourcing.

Much to our surprise, they are also open to designing the outside of your house – from balconies and patios to verandas. This is actually new to their list of services, so there hasn’t really been much feedback regarding this.

Overall, J Stanley Interiors could be a great choice to design the interior of your home as they are in high demand with residential clients today. And, according to them, the firm’s style is a little more fun, quirky, and eclectic.

Cons

Speaking of amazing interior designers, Speaking of Interiors Ltd is a company where you’ll find them.

They’re a boutique interior design studio that offers a range of versatile interior design solutions for both residential and commercial projects.

What they have are concept-to-completion interior design services.

We like their immersive approach throughout the entire design process. This way they’re able to adapt to the client’s requirements as well as budget.

On the topic of budget, we also like how affordable their expert services are. Plus, we find that their services are definitely value-for-money.

We think it’s amazing how transparent they during the process and they take the time to explain everything.

They have great ideas and deliver them impeccably. We highly recommend!

Pros

  • 20 years of experience in the industry
  • Interior design for residential spaces
  • Take on projects of any size
  • Connections to a variety of sources
  • Interior colourist with a sense of chic style
  • Free initial phone or online consultation

Cons

  • Lack of information regarding their pricing system

Another residential interior designer of our liking is Helene Marie Design, which has 20 years of industry experience. There are numerous aspects that we can highlight, and we’re delighted to share them with you.

First and foremost, the company could take on projects of any size –  whether it’s a small change within a space or a major property renovation. One aspect of their approach is their structured close collaboration with their clients.

When it comes to styles, we can’t help but be impressed by their approaches to fashion. Looking at their portfolio, we can say that they have such imaginative use of colour, bringing out the interior colourist in them while still maintaining a sense of chic style.

What we believe is a factor in their effective design is their resources, which, as we’ve learned, are obtained through their extensive industry contacts. As a result, they can easily source items from a variety of stores, which is a good quality for an interior design firm, in our opinion.

The only drawback is the lack of information about their pricing structure. We found nothing on their website or even in reviews that discuss how they charge – although to be fair, it’s quite hard to get a quote if you’re getting their business.

On the plus side, they provide a free initial phone or Zoom consultation, as well as a consultancy package if you decide to go with their direction. If you’re on the fence, we recommend paying a visit to their website, where their projects are displayed for all to see.

Pros

  • Highly-demand interior design firm in the city since 2006
  • Doesn’t have “house style”
  • Design schemes are developed in partnership with their in-house architects
  • Attention to detail design process
  • Has a cost management system

Cons

  • Minor complaints regarding inconsistencies in execution
  • Unknown pricing system

LLI Design has a broad design background in fashion, which puts them in a high-demand position in the industry since 2006. The company employs not only interior designers but also interior architects, elevating their renovation service to the next level.

Unlike other firms, they don’t have a “house style,” which gives us the impression that they consider the client’s aesthetic and lifestyle preferences. We actually believe in the value of personal interiors, and thankfully, they exceed our expectations of them.

Moving on to their in-house interior architects, LLI Design makes sure that their design schemes are developed in close coordination with them. This completely won us over, seeing as the collaborative effort can result in a well-executed finished home.

Their eye for detail is another thing clients like more about them, based on the reviews we gathered. To be honest, as simple as it may sound, it’s actually a valuable quality for an interior design firm to have to ensure that every step of the process goes smoothly.

However, we’ve also discovered some minor comments with inconsistencies in execution. This really is a turn-off on our part, but nevertheless, they still gained a solid four-star rating on reputable review sites, so they still passed our standards.

We also found nothing regarding their rates, as they aren’t disclosed publicly. However, their profile indicates that they have a cost management system, so we take their word for it to eventually provide a cost-effective service.

Pros

  • Over a decade of interior design experience
  • Best for providing classic and timeless interior design
  • Highly-demand with residential clients
  • Specialises in designing living rooms
  • Reasonable rates

Cons

  • Unpopular in terms of commercial interior design
  • Actual pricing structure isn’t available

If it’s a timeless design you are looking for – whether for your new house or for a renovation – then Fiona Barratt Interiors is the place to go. The firm has a personal background in such designs, so we believe they’re the right choice for the job.

Reviews around the internet proved how the firm is sought by clients for their imaginative use of texture, colours and shapes, which can all be interpreted into graceful and classic designs. For that matter, clients referred to them as “high-end interior design.”

Speaking of clients, the company provides interior design for residential spaces, specialising in designing living rooms. Their most promising project, in fact, was when they redefined traditional design for a Georgian home, where they worked on art and antique collections.

Although they don’t seem to excel in commercial spaces (as evidenced by their portfolio), they can be relied on for that as well. Their one-time reinterpretation of a penthouse suit as a British tradition, along with bespoke furniture and lighting, received positive feedback.

On top of it all, clients praised them for charging reasonable rates while adhering to agreed-upon budgets (although we found nothing of their actual pricing structure). Nonetheless, knowing this provides us with reassurance and peace of mind.

Finally, with over a decade of interior design experience, Fiona Barratt Interiors seemingly has all you need for redesigning services. Their success can actually be measured through the number of awards they’ve been receiving, which we consider a plus.

Pros

  • Provides an affordable interior design package
  • Has also a luxury type of interior design package
  • Design consultation available
  • Renovation and redesign service
  • Attention to detail design process

Cons

  • Minor issue with communication
  • Mixed-reviews regarding designs

We understand that not everyone can afford to hire an interior designer, which is why we included Kia Designs in this list. This is due to the fact that they provide a flat-fee studio design service.

This very package is available at £1650 (per room), in which they will have their experienced designers work with you. Disregarding anything thought about this being a boxed design, this actually is a collaborative work that includes you.

But, if you’re one for a high-end interior design for your space, they offer a “Design by Kia Stanford” package. Obviously, their creative director will be on-site for this project, ensuring an exceptional approach.

This, however, is even more costly than the previously stated package – this is fixed at £2,750. Nevertheless, your project will be entitled to every service their studio can offer, which is not bad at all.

Leaving aside their creative work, which we appreciate, we discovered a minor issue with customer service. There have been complaints about their inconsistent communication, but everything else is clear.

Lastly, we’ve heard that Kia Designs has a policy of taking no more than eight interior design projects at a time. This is great news for their clients, as they will get the time their project requires.

FAQs About Interior Design in London

What is the most important element of interior design?

Although most people associate interior design with style, the most important aspect of interior design is a functional space. It only makes sense since it serves as its foundation; thus, both the user and the designer must be aware of the available space.

Is it better if I hire an interior designer or do it myself?

Whether you should hire an interior designer or do your own design depends on the situation.

Doing it yourself could completely eliminate the designer’s fee. However, it is not as simple as you think.

You will end up spending a significant amount of time planning, conducting research, and so on. So, if money isn’t an issue, hiring a designer appears to be the better option.

When should I seek the services of an interior designer?

If you believe your home lacks life and personality, you should think about hiring an interior designer.

If you don’t know what your personal style is, or how you want your home to look, or if you only know what you like (or don’t like) when you see it, an interior designer can help.

What is the difference between an interior designer and an interior architect?

If you already have a structure and need to decorate the interiors, such as finishes, furniture, and colour palettes, you should hire an interior designer.

An interior architect, on the other hand, focuses on the functionality and material construction of interior spaces.
