5 Best Online Legal Services in the UK for Easy Legal Help

Needing a commercial lawyer while you’re stuck at home is hardly ideal. Suddenly, every contract clause starts looking suspiciously expensive!

Thankfully, plenty of legal help now comes to you. The best online legal services in the UK can handle contracts, intellectual property, and solicitor consultations without a trek across town.

I wanted options that felt practical rather than painfully formal. So I looked for services suited to startups, landlords, and everyday legal admin without the eye-watering traditional fees.

How much does online legal service cost in the UK?

Online legal services in the UK can start from around £10 to £15 for basic DIY documents. Direct solicitor advice may cost £350 per hour or more.

A single will usually costs £15–£50 through an online DIY service. Solicitor-prepared versions are closer to £99–£250.

Mirror wills for couples typically cost £30–£60 online. Fixed-fee solicitor services may charge £199–£450.

A Lasting Power of Attorney can cost £50–£120 using software. Solicitor assistance is usually around £350–£500.

Independent legal advice commonly costs £140–£150. Tenancy agreements range from £10–£49 DIY or £150–£300 with a solicitor.

How We Reviewed

  • Pricing Transparency: We favoured clear, upfront fees with no nasty surprises. You should know what you’re paying before the legal work starts.
  • Solicitor Access: We checked how easily you can reach a qualified solicitor. Proper legal oversight matters when accuracy counts.
  • Platform Usability: We looked for simple tools that don’t turn paperwork into a second job. A clean platform should save time, not test your patience.
  • Scope of Coverage: We compared how many legal needs each service can handle. The broader the coverage, the fewer platforms you’ll need to juggle.

1. LegalVision

legalvision

Website

Address: Spaces Oxford Street, Mappin House, 4 Winsley Street

Contact: 0808 196 8584 / [email protected]

Hours: Monday – Thursday, 8:30 AM – 6 PM | Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM

LegalVision makes sense if your business needs legal help often enough to keep a solicitor practically on speed dial.

Its membership covers routine advice, contract drafting, document reviews, employment matters, restructuring, and domestic trade mark applications.

I like that requests can be managed through its Prism portal rather than buried in an email chain. When I asked about a standard supplier agreement, the response was quick, clear, and refreshingly free of legal fog.

The membership model can be especially handy for growing companies that want more predictable legal spending. Three- and five-year members can get 50% off standard hourly rates for non-routine work, including more complex transactions.

The catch is that LegalVision focuses firmly on commercial law, so personal, family, consumer, and employee matters are out.

Some membership arrangements may involve longer commitments too, so I’d check the contract terms before signing up.

Pros

  • Unlimited support for routine business legal matters
  • Covers contracts, employment, restructuring, and trade marks
  • Handy Prism portal for managing legal requests
  • Predictable membership-based pricing
  • Discounts available for some non-routine legal work

Cons

  • Focuses on commercial law only
  • Some membership plans may involve longer commitments

Customer Review

Really Helpful From Start to Finish

I can honestly say that without LegalVision helping me with contracts, advice and everything else in between, I don’t know what I would have done. They have registered Trademarks for me, with Darcy being amazing the whole way through the process, Hammy, Humna, Andrew, Simon (who onboarded me and checked in to make sure all is going okay), and the rest of the team, who have all been fantastic. Their online portal is easy to use, keeps track of everything, raises requests, has helpful resources for common queries, and includes some useful partner offers to take advantage of too.

2. Sprintlaw UK

sprintlaw-uk

Website

Address: 66 Paul Street

Contact: 0808 134 7754  / [email protected]

Hours: Available 24/7

Sprintlaw UK is a handy pick if billable-hour roulette makes you nervous. It runs online and mainly uses fixed-fee pricing, so you’ll know the scope and cost before work gets underway.

I like that its lawyers use automation for routine tasks without making the service feel completely DIY.

Most standard projects are usually wrapped up within five business days, which is useful when you need a contract sorted quickly.

Its membership starts at £33 a month and includes templates, consultations, legal helpline access, and service credits. That could suit startups and small businesses that need legal help more than once in a blue moon.

The main catch is that Sprintlaw isn’t regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. It can’t conduct litigation or represent you in court, so serious disputes may require another provider.

Pros

  • Primarily fixed-fee pricing
  • Online service across England and Wales
  • Typical turnaround of around five business days
  • Membership starts at £33 per month
  • Includes templates, consultations, and legal helpline access
  • Uses automation to streamline routine legal work

Cons

  • Not regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority
  • Can’t conduct litigation or represent clients in court
  • More complex disputes may require another legal provider

3. Independent Legal Advice ILA – My Online Lawyer

independent-legal-advice-ila-my-online-lawyer

Website

Address: 1-4, The Parade, Monarch Way, Essex

Contact: 0800 002 5812

Hours: Daily, 9 AM – 5 PM

My Online Lawyer is a useful option when a lender deadline is looming and leaving home isn’t exactly convenient.

You can book same-day Independent Legal Advice appointments by video, which takes some of the faff out of urgent property paperwork.

I like that the service covers joint borrower mortgages, director guarantees, equity release, and other common ILA needs. There’s a free 10-minute consultation, while fixed fees start from £140 excluding VAT.

Its partner firms are approved by most lenders, which can help keep transactions moving. They aim to dispatch completed documents on the same day, though that isn’t a guarantee.

The catch is that My Online Lawyer isn’t itself a regulated law firm. It acts as a network connecting clients with SRA-regulated solicitor firms, so your legal work is ultimately handled by a partner practice.

Pros

  • Same-day Independent Legal Advice appointments available
  • Convenient video consultations
  • Free 10-minute initial consultation
  • Fixed fees from £140 excluding VAT
  • Covers mortgages, director guarantees, and equity release
  • Partner firms are approved by most lenders

Cons

  • My Online Lawyer isn’t itself an SRA-regulated law firm
  • Legal work is handled by partner solicitor firms
  • Same-day document dispatch is an aim, not a guarantee

Great Advice and Really Professional Service

I recently had the pleasure of working with Saba, a highly skilled solicitor I connected with through an online platform. Saba provided exceptional guidance and support throughout our interaction. Her expertise, responsiveness, and professionalism were truly impressive, making our communication seamless and productive.

I highly recommend Saba to anyone seeking reliable and knowledgeable legal advice.

They Helped Me Meet a Tight Deadline

I was in need of a last-minute director’s guarantee, and there was no time for a face-to-face appointment, so I decided to look online, and that’s when I came across My Online Lawyer. I was put in contact with a solicitor, Saba Rehman, and frankly I couldn’t be happier! Saba was very understanding and knowledgeable and not only met but exceeded all my expectations, before, during and after my video call with her. After my consultation, Saba made sure I received the documents in a fast and professional manner, allowing me to meet my deadline.

4. Rocket Lawyer UK

rocket-lawyer-uk

Website

Address: 3rd Floor, The Hoxton Mix, 86-90 Paul St

Contact: 0800 756 3996 / [email protected]

Hours: Monday – Friday, 9 AM – 6 PM

Rocket Lawyer UK is handy when you need legal paperwork sorted without turning the dining table into a solicitor’s office.

Its guided document builder covers wills, tenancy agreements, privacy policies, and plenty of everyday business forms.

I like that the platform walks you through each document step by step rather than dumping legal jargon in your lap. You can then sign and share paperwork digitally, which keeps the whole process fairly painless.

Members can ask qualified solicitors legal questions, with replies often arriving within one business day depending on complexity.

There’s a monthly document review too, which adds a useful human check to the DIY tools.

The downside is that standard membership only includes one eligible document review per month. More involved legal work may cost extra, so it’s better for routine needs than heavyweight legal battles.

Pros

  • Easy step-by-step document builder
  • Covers wills, tenancy agreements, and business documents
  • Digital signing and sharing included
  • Access to qualified solicitors for legal questions
  • One eligible document review included each month

Cons

  • Standard membership limits document reviews to one per month
  • Some documents aren’t eligible for review
  • More complex legal work may cost extra

Handy for Creating Legal Documents

I used this program to create a couple of documents; I can not fault the program at all. I used it on a trial period, and once my business starts earning, I will most definitely use them on a subscription basis.

They allow you to make documents on a free trial period.

It is very uncommon that you are able to get advice and legal documents free online. If you are unhappy with the trial service or are unwilling to pay £30, no one is stopping you from  paying £200 to a real  lawyer instead.

A Really Good Online Legal Service

I have used the Rocket Lawyer service for one of my legal needs, and I found it one of the best online services. I definitely recommend to avail their services for any of you legal document requirements…

5. Lawhive Legal LTD

lawhive-legal-ltd

Website

Address: 31 Central Street

Contact: [email protected]

Hours: By appointment

Lawhive Legal Ltd is a good shout if you want proper legal help without spending half the day ringing firms around London.

It’s an SRA-regulated, online-first firm that connects clients with lawyers across a wide range of matters.

I like that the process starts with a few simple questions rather than a wall of legal jargon. You’ll then get matched with a suitable lawyer and receive clear pricing before deciding whether to proceed.

For property matters, Lawhive says its conveyancers can help get the buying or selling process started within 48 hours.

Many services come with fixed-fee quotes too, which makes budgeting less of a guessing game.

The catch is that not every matter is fixed-fee. More complex work can be billed hourly, so I’d check the pricing structure carefully before hiring a lawyer.

Pros

  • SRA-regulated online-first law firm
  • Matches clients with suitable lawyers
  • Clear pricing before you proceed
  • Fixed fees available for many services
  • Conveyancing can get started within 48 hours

Cons

  • Not every matter is offered at a fixed fee
  • More complex work may be billed hourly

Customer Review

Really Happy With the Whole Experience

Very happy with the experience and would recommend. I was impressed with everything – from the customer service agent who completed my assessment, the online platform, to the solicitor, his quality of work, commitment and responsiveness.
