5 Best Tree Removal Pros in London Who Make the Cut

I take real pride in keeping my front and back yards polished, with professional gardening teams handling the planting, pruning, and general faff. Sadly, a few ageing trees have now decided to become the main event.

Removing them isn’t a job for a ladder, a borrowed saw, and misplaced confidence. Finding the best tree removal in London means choosing insured experts with proper kit and a careful approach.

Older properties always seem to have one more awkward job hiding around the corner. I’ve rounded up skilled local tree surgeons who can clear dangerous trees without turning the garden into a building site.

How much does tree removal cost in London?

Tree removal in London usually costs £250 to £3,500+. Prices rise for taller trees, limited access, and more complicated jobs.

  • Small trees up to 15 ft: £250–£550
  • Medium trees from 15 to 30 ft: £550–£1,200
  • Large trees from 30 to 50 ft: £1,200–£2,500
  • Very large trees over 50 ft: £2,500–£3,500+

London’s higher labour costs can push the final bill up. Tight gardens and narrow access points may also require specialist equipment.

How We Reviewed

  • Safety and insurance: We chose fully insured crews, so both your property and their workers are covered when the cutting gets risky.
  • Specialist equipment: We favoured teams with proper rigging gear and battery-powered tools for tackling big trees in tight London gardens.
  • Waste disposal: We looked for crews that clean up properly, chip wood into mulch, or use licensed recycling centres.
  • Customer transparency: We picked companies offering free estimates and clear quotes, so there’s no nasty surprise on the final bill.

1. LG Trees

Address: 13B Belgrade Rd

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8 AM – 4 PM

LG Trees makes the final bill easier to swallow because it’s VAT-exempt, saving you 20% off the bat. I also like that owner Luke handles both the quote and the job, so nothing gets lost in translation.

Their quiet battery-powered tools are a win for London neighbours who’d rather not hear chainsaws all afternoon.

For terraced homes, they’ll cut debris into manageable pieces, bag it up, and carry it through carefully without redecorating your walls by accident.

They can also deal with council paperwork in conservation areas for a small deposit, which takes one more headache off your plate. It’s a handy option when local rules are nearly as tangled as the branches.

The catch is that they may discourage removing a healthy tree, even when you’ve already pictured the space without it.

They also take all timber to a composting facility, so don’t expect to keep any logs for the fireplace for a cosy night!

Pros

  • Clean indoor debris removal
  • No added VAT
  • Spotless insurance record since 2010
  • Handles planning permission

Cons

  • May refuse healthy tree removal
  • Clients can’t keep the firewood

Expert Tree Maintenance and Removal

Used in London NW2 to reduce a very large oak, remove 3 very tall sycamores, trim various other trees and maintain an ancient false acacia covered under the local tree preservation order. Luke knows the Brent regulations and dealt with Brent efficiently. The whole job was completed sensitively and carefully over several days by himself and his team, who left everything remarkably clean and tidy. Price was very competitive compared to previous tree surgeons. A bonus was that all the wood was recycled via Freecycle. Definitely recommended.

Excellent Property Clearing Services

Luke did an excellent job, clearing overgrown bushes and trees at the back of our property. This included felling a huge dead cherry tree covered with ivy. His price was very reasonable; he outlined the options available before he started the work, and he cleared all the debris from the site when the work was finished. I can’t recommend him enough.

Address: 7 Newlands Court, Footscray Road

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM | Saturday-Sunday, 9 AM – 2 PM

Crown Tree Surgeons Ltd makes budgeting easier with free, no-obligation consultations. Their Arboricultural Association accreditation also adds a reassuring layer of professionalism.

They’re especially handy when a bulky tree is wedged into a tight London garden. I watched them rig down a huge oak branch piece by piece without so much as nudging the neighbour’s fence.

All the green waste is processed on-site into mulch, which keeps the clean-up tidy and useful. They’ll also handle council paperwork for protected trees, saving you another round of admin.

Their 24-hour emergency team is a real comfort when storms start throwing branches about.

The downside is that same-day service only covers select South East London areas, including Bexley and Greenwich.

Pros

  • 24/7 emergency response
  • Advanced rigging for tight spaces
  • Handles council applications
  • On-site wood chipping

Cons

  • Same-day service is area-limited

Professional and Efficient Shrub Removal

Great service from Crown Tree Surgeons. I emailed about work, got a reply the same day, site visit by Davis the following day. He explained everything regarding the shrub removal. The lads from Crown Tree Surgeons removed all shrubs and cleaned everything away; very professional service, would highly recommend.

Professional Service and Helpful Advice

I highly recommend this company. From first contact, the service was very efficient, professional, and friendly. David was so helpful regarding the removal of a tree from our garden and making suggestions for replacement. The crew on the day were delightful, polite, and hardworking and clearly love their job. Everything was left tidy on completion. I’m happy to recommend them.

Hours: Monday-Friday, 7.30 AM – 5.30 PM | Saturday, 7.30 AM – 1 PM

Allison Tree Services keeps things speedy by working within a focused 10-mile radius. They’ve been trading since 2007, so there’s plenty of hands-on experience behind the chainsaws.

Their fully insured removals come with a no-fuss guarantee, which takes some of the worry out of a risky job. Free quotes are also available without the hard sell.

The team uses heavy-duty stump grinders to tackle roots properly, rather than leaving half the problem underground. They handle everything from compact London gardens to large commercial grounds with the same careful approach.

Their City & Guilds training is another reassuring tick in the box.

The downside is that East and South East London fall outside their service area, and you’ll need another contractor for general landscaping.

Pros

  • Hazardous tree specialists
  • Strong industry credentials
  • Domestic and commercial work
  • Heavy-duty stump grinding

Cons

  • No East and South East London coverage

Professional and Efficient Tree Removal

I was extremely pleased with the professional and efficient tree removal service provided by John. From the initial consultation to the final clean-up, he was highly skilled and courteous. He clearly explained the process, addressed all my concerns, and completed the work on schedule with minimal disruption. I was particularly impressed with his meticulous clean-up. The entire experience was positive, and I would highly recommend John to anyone in need of tree removal services.

Careful Tree Removal and Cleanup

John carried out tree removal for our Bowls Club. Took great care to ensure that there was no peripheral damage and left the site neat. All for a very competitive price. We offered him a cup of tea, but he was too busy to drink it!

4. Clear Cut Trees

Address: 70 Burford Gardens

Contact: 020 8351 6057 | Mobile: 07828 967 088 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday-Friday, 7 AM – 6 PM | Saturday, 7 AM – 1 PM

Clear Cut Trees gives plenty of peace of mind with £10 million in insurance cover. Every job also follows British Standard 3998, so safety isn’t treated as an optional extra.

The founder’s first-class Biological Sciences degree brings real ecological know-how to the team. A property manager I spoke with especially praised their sharp advice on tree diseases and long-term care.

Their crews are brilliant with pulleys and rigging when London gardens leave barely any room to manoeuvre. They can also tame unruly hedges with careful drop-crotch pruning rather than simply hacking them into submission.

I like that their scientific approach keeps gardens healthy as well as tidy.

The downside is that timber removal isn’t included in the standard price, so clearing the wood may cost extra.

Pros

  • £10 million insurance cover
  • Confined-space specialists
  • Leaves sites spotless
  • Strong ecological expertise

Cons

  • Waste removal costs extra

5. GraftinGardeners Ltd

graftingardeners-ltd

Website

Address: 45 Swanwick Close

Contact: 0208 123 7653 | Mobile: 07931 583 876 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8 AM – 6 PM | Saturday, 9 AM – 5 PM (emergency service available)

GraftinGardeners Ltd keeps budgeting refreshingly simple with a guaranteed fixed price. That means no nasty surprises appearing once the chainsaws come out.

Their qualified NPTC (National Proficiency Test Council) tree surgeons follow a careful seven-step felling process to keep each job safe and controlled.

ConstructionLine Platinum accreditation adds another reassuring tick for homeowners who like their paperwork as tidy as their gardens.

They also offer 24-hour emergency call-outs across Greater London when storms send branches where they don’t belong. Green waste removal comes as standard, and the crew often leaves the garden looking smarter than before.

The catch is that they won’t top trees under any circumstances, even when homeowners request it.

They also keep and sell the timber, so you won’t be stocking the log basket afterwards.

Pros

  • Guaranteed fixed pricing
  • 24/7 emergency service
  • Green waste removal included
  • Fully NPTC-qualified surgeons

Cons

  • Won’t top trees
  • Keeps and sells usable timber

Customer Reviews

Excellent Emergency Tree Removal Service

I needed an emergency tree removal (next-day service). Graftin Gardeners provided an excellent service, and the tree was removed within a few hours. What is equally important is that they have charged me a standard market rate for the service. I have called a few other companies, and they all tried to charge much more ( special rates, emergency rates, etc). Great service and honest people. Thank you

Proper Tree Sectioning and Trimming

I had one ash tree for sectioning and getting out the roots, and the other job was massive trimming of 7 cedar trees. They did the jobs properly with speciality, safety, tidying up and removing all rubbish. I recommend their job, and their price was sensible and great.
