A few weekends ago, my family and I were stuck in the classic “What should we do today?” loop. The options? Yet another museum or another day stuck indoors.
Then, I had a bright idea: to surprise them by booking a last-minute VR experience. Within the hour, we were dodging zombies—my mum’s reaction alone was worth it. Watching her swing at invisible enemies in full VR gear had us in stitches.
That one afternoon opened an opportunity for a whole new way of spending time together that was anything but ordinary.
Since then, we’ve started exploring more of London’s VR experiences, and there’s a surprising amount to choose from. If you’re not sure which ones to go to, here are the best VR experiences in London that we found.

They’re famously known for survival games. One of their games, Contagion Origins, will allow you to face zombies in an underground setting. This game is playable in four modes, depending on your preferred difficulty.
Another zombie apocalypse game they have is The Day After. This time, you and your team will be placed in a haunted village filled with zombies. The mission is simple: get out of there, alive.

If you’re a Titanic die-hard fan, you will surely enjoy their virtual underwater adventure that will start from a not-yet-wrecked giant ship. The experience will allow you to witness how the famous shipwreck happened as if you were there.
I like how this immersive and narrative experience combines history, technology, and emotion. The activity will make you realise how far we’ve come as a constantly progressing human being ever since the Titanic sank.

The young ones in your family will surely love some of the games because they’re likely to be very familiar with them. One of their VR games is inspired by Angry Birds, a famous mobile game that you might have played as well.
Another game that may be close to kids’ hearts is Paw Patrol. This hit TV show will have you and your family conduct fun rescue missions for an hour.

I like the wide range of VR shooting games they have. They offer nine free-roam multiplayer zombie shooting games with state-of-the-art guns. Some games can be played by up to 18 players, such as Hero Zone, Death Squad, and Mission Z.
Aside from VR shooting games, they also offer a great range of VR escape rooms. They have 11 escape rooms with various themes like space exploration, Prison Break, and even Indiana Jones.

I deeply appreciate the effort of SPVR Arcade in putting adult and kid-friendly activities within their venue.
Those aged 10 and above can enjoy the tower tag VR experience. The goal is to claim as many towers as your group can while eliminating the opposing team.
Aside from tower tag, they also have nine VR escape rooms. What I love most is the one with an Alice in Wonderland theme that can be enjoyed by up to 12 people.
Lastly, I like their soft play area. The lovely, spacious playground is available for kids under six years old. Here, they can play in a castle or watch kids’ TV shows, such as Peppa Pig.
Pro Tip:
Expect an almost doubled price for VR experiences during peak season. To save money, avail the tower tag experience for six sessions in a single booking.
