From Victorian terraces in Clapham to classic townhouses in Islington, good masonry is everywhere in London. But when it comes to doing the same brickwork for your own home, finding that level of craftsmanship becomes the hardest job in the world.
After hearing a few horror stories, we decided to find masonry contractors who stand by their work. We explored past projects, spoke to clients, and paid close attention to the workmanship in each work.
With a shortlist of professionals who consistently handle excellent work, we’re sure you can easily keep the charm of your English home.
How much do masonry services cost in London?
The cost of masonry services in London ranges from £300 to £400 per day for a specialist stonemason. Rates vary depending on the size and complexity of the project.
How we chose the best masonry contractors in London
- Quality of workmanship: We evaluated the quality of masonry work by reviewing completed projects, photos, and client feedback.
- Range of services: We reviewed the scope of services provided, including brickwork, stonework, repairs, and restorations.
- Pricing: We assessed pricing structures to assess the fairness of the rates based on the quality of work and experience.
- Project management: We reviewed whether contractors completed projects on time and managed schedules effectively.
- Aftercare support: We examined whether they offered warranties or follow-up services after project completion.
1. North West London Bricklaying Services

Location: 48 Clacton Rd, London E6 3ES
Contact: +44 7310 056848
Opening Hours: Open 24 Hours
Based on client interviews, we found that North West is a crew that works efficiently on all sites. Every project was clean, with finished looks that appear sharper than most we’ve seen.
Their smaller repair work has the same level of care as their bigger builds. They handled things like feature brick patterns, custom steps, and heritage style details.
Not many others offer these options, so it’s a big plus.
During the work, clients confirmed how tidy and organised they were. Tools weren’t scattered, and progress moved steadily without loud disruptions.
We also appreciated that they would occasionally do a small add-on task without racking up the bill.
Looking at the results, the brick alignment and mortar finish were impressive. Repairs blended seamlessly with old brickwork, showing real technical skill.
One downside is their scheduling. During busy seasons, their calendar fills fast. Booking may take longer than expected, especially for first-time clients.
Great attention to detail
“North West London Bricklaying Services did a fantastic job on our garden wall project. The workmanship was top quality, and the attention to detail was impressive. The team was professional, reliable, and completed the job on time and within budget. They kept the site clean and were always happy to answer any questions we had. We’re really pleased with the results and would highly recommend them to anyone needing expert bricklaying services.”

Did exactly what is needed
“Klodian partially rebuilt a wall for us in the front garden. Would recommend him 100% – lovely guy and did exactly what I needed for a fair price. Squeezed us in on a Sunday morning too which was appreciated.”

According to most clients, working with LNK was stress-free. Throughout the project, they offered design suggestions to help clients achieve their desired look.
We also liked that they adjust plans to meet the client’s budget. Fortunately, upfront quotes were detailed, and the standard rates are competitive.
Exploring their range, we’re happy to find how flexible they are as outdoor specialists. Apart from masonry work, they can also do patios, paving, and artificial grass.
For clients doing multiple home renovations, this is a major plus for convenience.
The quality of the workmanship also stood out. Brick alignment, repointing, and finish work looked clear and carefully done.
The entire worksite is also tidy. There are little to no distractions in households while they work, eliminating any hassle.
Availability can be a bit of a problem at times, though. When the spring season hits, households tend to book their services. Scheduling ahead is advised.
A pleasure to work with
“Dymtro and his team were a pleasure to work with from start to finish. Having moved to a new house, the garden was in disrepair and in desperate need of an overhaul. They were flexible working within our somewhat restricted budget, and also helped to come up with practical solutions as well as design ideas for the job. The end result is an utterly transformed space and a beautiful, usable garden that will no doubt bring us many years of happy memories as we settle into the house.”

Highly recommended
“Really pleased with the work that LNK did for me. The project began with just building one wall – but they ended up doing such a great, reasonably priced job I then asked them to help with two other walls, a new patio and general garden revamp. Have recommended to many friends.”

K. Barnard are true specialists in older properties. Their focus on restoration and conservation makes them a strong choice for homes that have period brickwork.
Their use of lime mortar and reclaimed bricks stood out. This was a great sign to us that they have genuine heritage knowledge.
The range of services is also good. Apart from standard masonry, they also offer chimney repairs, bay window restoration, and traditional tiled paths.
Craftsmanship is another strong factor. Matching brings, and traditional techniques help the repairs blend naturally.
We also appreciate the attention they give to damps and movement issues. This helps with structural concerns, which clients may not notice at first.
Clients loved how detailed their planning is, resulting in on-time project delivery. Quotes were also thorough, and they provide progress updates for the entire work.
Being a relatively smaller team, they may have limited capacity during busy periods. It may be hard to book them during busy months.
Speedy and first-class work
“We are so happy with the work Keith, Ben and their team did repointing the back of our house (see before and after photos!) and the masonry repair works to our window sills. The standard of work is first class, all carried out within the timeframe and quote and they were a lovely team. We would recommend them to any family and friends and will be using them again for further work in the future. Thanks so much again!”
