Pros

  • Full-service radiology clinic
  • With experienced consultant radiologists and radiographic technicians
  • Uses advanced imaging technology
  • Experts in initial diagnosis and second opinion
  • Personalised care
  • Online booking of scan

Cons

  • No price structure available
  • Closed on weekends

London Radiology has its own private team of consultant radiologists. They are a full-service radiology clinic, which means they do not provide any other services outside of the field – that for sure explains why they’re one of the most sought-after radiology clinics.

Obviously, they can provide their clients with a wide range of imaging services by having the advanced equipment for it. On top of that, their radiologists work alongside experienced radiographic technicians to provide accurate findings.

Many of their clients come to them for a second opinion since they are known for delivering efficient results. Not to mention, they provide the majority of their clients with same-day imaging, which is perfect for emergency purposes.

As we mentioned, the clinic has a private team of radiologists, which, in our opinion, comes with an advantage. This means that they prioritise personalised care for their clients and, at the same time, give out suitable referrals.

However, as much as we’d like to tell you how much their services cost, they don’t have any information. But given their high demand in the city, we believe they charge slightly more than the city’s average price for the services.

On the plus side, you can book a scan with them without having to call since they have forms for that on their website. It’s just that they frequently confirm bookings during business hours (which are, of course, acceptable) from Monday to Friday.

Pros

  • Expert in imaging and diagnosing sports injury
  • Affiliated with four medical facilities
  • Solid credentials
  • Trusted by HCA Healthcare

Cons

  • Difficulty in the booking of scans
  • Unclear rates

If you are in need of imaging services for your sports injury, we suggest you call Dr. Jeremiah Healy. Well, he is a musculoskeletal radiologist with specialist expertise in imaging and diagnosis of sports injuries.

In fact, his credentials are almost overwhelming, having worked as a consultant radiologist at four different hospitals in the area. This is in addition to years of providing expert advice and treatment to a number of professional sports organisations.

Patients also find him trustworthy with his diagnosis, as evidenced by the overall five-patient trust rating he received at HCA Healthcare. This obviously receives a favourable number of points in our book.

However, because he works in four medical facilities, we find his availability somewhat perplexing, at least in terms of his time availability. This, we believe, may be difficult for interested first-time clients seeking his services.

We also see his lack of a personal website as adding to the difficulty of contacting him, which is quite inconvenient. It’s a good thing he’s always reachable via the phone numbers we listed above for you.

Regardless, we believe that acquiring Dr. Healy’s services is still worthwhile, especially if you seek him out for his expertise. It’s just that you need to coordinate with his office to properly schedule a scan.

Pros

  • Full body MRI scans
  • Multiple clinics across the country
  • Expert in early detections
  • Same-day service to other services
  • Transparent pricing system
  • Provides insurance assistance

Cons

  • Complaints about hidden costs

Vista Health Ealing can be considered one of the leading UK healthcare providers of specialist diagnostic services, or so they claim. Looking at their profile, we can conclude that they’re true to their words – although they’re not entirely perfect.

For starters, they have multiple clinics across the country, and we are happy to tell you that their Ealing Diagnostic Centre branch in London is amongst the most highly praised. It turns out, unlike most of their clinics, that branch happens to offer full-body MRI scans.

That’s why, in our opinion, they’re a good choice for those who have health concerns and need a quick detection scan. All because this total body MRI scan provides immediate insight into the patient’s current overall health.

However, this type of service takes three days to complete, which we completely understand given that it requires a full report from a specialist consultant radiologist. They do, however, offer same-day ultrasound and echocardiogram services.

Now, we applaud Vista Health Ealing for being completely transparent about their pricing. Their MRI scans start at £199, with full body MRI scans costing £1,500, including fees for additional assessment.

Clients can also expect insurance assistance, seeing as they understand how expensive imaging can be for some. Unfortunately, we’ve heard of some cases of charging hidden costs, which is somewhat ironic.

Pros

  • 30 years of medical experience
  • Full-service medical facility
  • Smooth scheduling system
  • Walk-ins are accommodated if noted as an emergency
  • Quick diagnosis
  • Reasonably priced

Cons

  • By appointment only

Even though 108 Harley Street is a full-service medical facility, they still managed to deliver excellent x-ray and imaging services. They’ve been providing health care to the residents of the city for over 30 years, which is the kind of experience we applaud.

What we like most about them is their smooth scheduling system, which they find pretty easy to maximise despite being available on weekdays only. Requested appointments are usually confirmed within 24 hours, but walk-ins are welcome in emergency situations.

They also did not disappoint us in terms of turnaround times, as results for the majority of their investigations are routinely available on the same day. However, this only applies to the basic imaging services they offer, as the more complex ones take 48 to 72 hours.

For a small clinic, we were surprised when we found out that they have ten consultant radiologists with varied expertise. To round out their team, they also have two radiographers who work well alongside them.

On another positive note, we find their average x-ray cost affordable, ranging from £100 to £165, while their imaging services cost way more than that. Sadly, they don’t offer convenient payment options – however, they do accept insurance.

Finally, we also want to highlight the welcoming atmosphere of their clinic, as per their past clients. Although, as previously suggested, their clinic is kind of cramped, clients commend them for their friendly manners.

Pros

  • Offers an array of imaging service
  • Well-equipped facility
  • Takes pride in using the most advanced equipment
  • Welcoming environment
  • Quick procedure

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Limited number of consultant radiologists

OneWelbeck’s imaging and diagnostic centre is also a model of excellence, offering a wide range of musculoskeletal, cardiothoracic, gastrointestinal, and breast investigations. And, while they only have a few consultant radiologists, there are some areas where they excel.

First of all, is their possession of the advanced technology in the world of scanning. Their state-of-the-art DEXA scanner is our personal favourite, which is a diagnostic kit used to assess a patient’s risk of osteoporosis.

They also use cutting-edge MRI scanners (1.5T and 3T MRI scanners), which allow them to image their client’s problem at the highest quality on whichever scanner is most appropriate.

If we’re being honest, this kind of technological feature puts them at the top of their game.

Next is the brightness of their facility with most of their clients mentioning being welcomed by friendly staff and receiving efficient service. Procedures are thoroughly explained and carried out as quickly as possible.

There were no more negative comments about customer service, but there were about their prices. Some claim to have been overcharged even during a consultation, let alone the high cost of their primary services.

However, because they use excellent advanced technology, we can’t help but find their pricing structure reasonable. So, if you’re looking for high-quality yet affordable imaging, this might not be the place for you.

FAQs About Radiologists in London

When should someone see a radiologist?

When you need a diagnostic imaging test, your physician will usually refer you to a radiologist.

It may be because your doctor may require additional information to diagnose or rule out specific conditions. It can also be done to track the progression of a previously identified disease.

Is it necessary to have an x-ray read by a radiologist?

In most cases, radiologists should be the ones to read x-rays as they are specially trained to interpret X-rays and other imaging tests. However, some doctors typically read their own x-rays and do not rely on radiologists to interpret the tests.

Can radiographic technicians interpret my image?

No. They are not medical doctors, and while they are familiar with your anatomy, they are not qualified to diagnose you.

It is simply not their role to provide diagnostic information to a patient. A diagnostic radiologist or a qualified physician must read your test.

Which is better, CT scan or an MRI?

Although MRIs and CT scans can both show internal body structures, MRIs have more accurate images that allow doctors to see whether a patient has any abnormal tissues. A CT scan, on the other hand, is quicker and can show images of the skeletal system, tissues, and organs.
