How We Reviewed

  • Range of Services: We wanted to see what each clinic actually offers patients, so we gave higher scores to those with a wide range of options, such as various tests or even surgeries.
  • Specialist Expertise: Experience matters, so we looked at the training and skills of the medical teams. When you’re cared for by London’s top ophthalmologists, you can expect a higher level of care.
  • Advanced Technology: We also checked out the equipment used for eye scans and surgeries. Clinics with the latest lasers and imaging tools usually give you safer, better results.
  • Patient Convenience: Finally, we considered how easy it is for patients to access help. Clinics with flexible hours and emergency care are great for busy people or those coming from out of town.

Getting comprehensive private care is easy at Eye Clinic London because they handle everything from simple dry-eye issues to complex paediatric eye conditions.

Their consultant-led team really knows their stuff, making them a solid choice if you need specialised treatments like cataract surgery with femtosecond lasers. Plus, they use advanced Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapies for dry eyes.

We actually spoke with a colleague who brought their kid here for an eye infection, and they praised the gentle, expert approach of the doctors.

You can also easily book emergency appointments if you experience sudden vision changes or pain.

But keep in mind they operate strictly as a private clinic. If you want National Health Service (NHS)-funded routine care, you have to look somewhere else. Also, they close on weekends.

Pros

  • Advanced femtosecond laser cataract surgery
  • Comprehensive paediatric eye services
  • Emergency appointments available
  • Modern dry-eye IPL treatments

Cons

  • No NHS-funded routine care
  • Closed on weekends

He carried out a very thorough assessment

I visited Dr. Samer Hamada for persistent dry eye symptoms and was extremely impressed with the care I received. He carried out a very thorough assessment, took the time to explain his findings clearly, and answered all of my questions. Following the examination, he prescribed a treatment plan tailored to my condition. I felt listened to, reassured, and confident in the recommended treatment. I would highly recommend Dr. Hamada to anyone seeking expert and professional eye care.

The clinic staff are all experienced and efficient

I don’t think we could have received better care. My husband needed both cataract surgery and corneal replacement, and was virtually blind in the affected eye. As we now realise, eye surgery demands fine skills and careful judgement, both provided by Mr Hamada in full measure. The clinic staff are all experienced and efficient, managing the flow of patients with tact. My husband now has superb vision in the operated eye and can drive again. A great outcome.

The team were excellent and reassuring

Just seen Glenn Carp for my 1 month post op check up. Thankyou to every one at LVC for what you have done. I’ve gone from wearing glasses and contacts my whole life with +6 Astigmatism and now seeing crystal clear. I was turned away by other opticians due to my high prescription, but after some research founded LVC. Professor dan reinstein and the team were excellent and reassuring during my SMILE procedure.

Thank you everyone at LVC

I am pleased with the outcome

In Apr 2024 I underwent laser eye treatment and was highly impressed by the professionalism and attentiveness of the staff. Despite encountering a minor complication with one eye post-surgery, the team promptly scheduled a corrective procedure. The regular follow-ups to monitor my eye progress demonstrated their commitment to patient care. Three months after the surgery, I am pleased with the outcome and am happy to have undergone the procedure.

Finding a place that handles serious eye conditions all under one roof is a huge relief for many patients. Fortunately, The London Clinic Eye Centre provides specialist care for issues involving the retina, cornea, and even eye cancer.

They focus heavily on medical and surgical eye care rather than just handing out glasses prescriptions.

My friend stopped by their facility last month to ask about glaucoma treatments for a relative. He said the staff was incredibly knowledgeable and reassuring.

Just remember that their contact team isn’t available on weekends. Also, don’t expect routine optical services here.

Moorfields Eye Hospital is a massive hub for both general and highly specialised eye care. They provide an incredible range of services, covering everything from routine diagnostics to complex ocular oncology.

They’re famous for a reason, accepting complex cataract referrals from all over the city. One major perk is their 24-hour accident and emergency department dedicated entirely to eye issues.

They also have a fantastic paediatric unit with specialists who treat children with great care.

The main catch is their schedule. While the emergency room is always open, their routine and specialist services stick to regular weekday hours, so plan ahead.

  • 24-hour dedicated eye Accident and Emergency (A&E)
  • Offers extensive specialist eye services
  • Accepts complex cataract referrals
  • Excellent paediatric ophthalmology team

Cons

I was treated with kindness and respect

My emergency appointment for a detached retina was dealt with efficiently & professionally.

At every stage of the process, I was treated with kindness and respect, the doctors always open to questions and patiently explaining the next step of my treatment.

As for the actual surgery (on the NHS), I was operated on by one of the top surgeons in the country, and the post-op care and follow-up appointment were top class.

I can’t thank everyone at Moorfields enough!

If you are ever treated there, rest assured you are in good hands.

They all were very professional, caring, empathetic

I accompanied my elderly mother to the cataract admissions today. (Sedgwick ward) Mum suffers from COPD, which causes extreme anxieties, I cannot thank everyone from the nurses, Surgeon, anaesthetist enough from the bottom of my heart, how they all were very professional, caring, empathetic, towards my mum. In fact she was so relaxed that she wanted the other eye done there and then. It’s been a difficult time for everyone, especially the NHS, who all deserve to be credited in a BIG way for their time, dedication, empathy, kindness. From a very grateful heartfelt daughter.

The surgery itself was painless

After seeing Mr EL-Amir I am extremely pleased with my cataract surgery and lens replacement.

Mr EL-Amir was friendly and explained everything along the way including treating and advising on my very early onset of glaucoma.

Mr EL-Amir did not rush and put me at ease with his expertise and friendly manner.

The surgery itself was painless and so professional in all aspects.

All in all I was very impressed with his expertise and knowledge and would have no hesitation in recommending him.

The service received was excellent

I was lucky enough to find Mr El-Amir to look at my father’s eyes after he had had a detached retina in March 2021. During the first appointment the review that Mr El-Amir carried out was comprehensive, and the explanation given for the immediate plan was clear, concise, and reassuring. The service received was excellent and the time given was generous, with absolutely no feeling of being rushed. At the follow-up appointment the results were very good, and as had been expected by Mr El-Amir. We look forward to meeting with Mr El-Amir in September to review progress again.
