How much do professional gymnast instructors charge in London?

Professional gymnast instructors in London charge £60 per hour for private sessions. However, the final cost will change depending on your instructors’ experience and qualifications.

How We Chose

  • Experience & qualifications – We prioritised instructors with extensive experience in coaching gymnastics at various levels, as well as relevant certifications from recognised organisations like British Gymnastics.
  • Specialisations – We considered instructors with expertise in specific gymnastics disciplines (e.g., artistic, rhythmic, trampoline) to cater to diverse interests and goals.
  • Awards and Recognition – We looked for instructors who have received awards or recognition within the gymnastics community, showcasing their exceptional talent and dedication.
  • Positive reviews – We analysed online reviews and testimonials from current and former students to gauge the instructor’s teaching style, communication skills, and ability to motivate and inspire.

Founded by a decorated former Bulgarian National Gymnastics Team member, Monika Vedrichkova, Anna’s Gymnastics Academy’s passion for the sport is evident from the moment you step through the door.

During our visit, we noticed that the staff’s approach was athlete-centred, meaning each gymnast progresses at their own pace, which is a big plus in our book.

For beginners or those just getting their feet wet, their Recreational Programme is perfect. It’s all about fun, basic stretching, with classes priced around £15 per hour, held 2 to 3 times a week.

Now, if you’re looking to get a bit more serious, their Competitive Programme is where it’s at. The program, requiring at least 6 hours per week, includes local competitions and is priced at about £20 per hour.

Monika’s expertise and dedication are evident in every session. We’ve heard nothing but praise from the athletes and parents alike.

We also can’t forget to mention that the academy also offers a convenient online Parent Portal and Mobile App, making class bookings, progress tracking, and updates a breeze. And if you’re not sure yet, they offer free trial classes so you can see the training environment firsthand.

Pros

  • Athlete-centred training
  • Variety of classes
  • Online application
  • Free trial classes

Cons

  • A few reports of poor customer service

Shows kindness and finds a special approach to each student

“My 8 year old daughter likes Anna’s Gymnastics club. Her coaches Snegana and Sophia are professional, they provide really good lessons. What is the most important for me, mother, they are very kind to children and they can find a special approach to each student. It is only one year, when daughter has been attending gymnastics classes, but I  can see big progress!”

Rhythmic Excellence, founded in 2015 by the dynamic duo Stefano Sirianni and Eleonora Baio, truly lives up to its name. When we visited, we were struck by their comprehensive approach to training, which caters to both recreational enthusiasts and competitive athletes alike.

Their focus on creating well-rounded gymnasts through holistic programs that include fitness conditioning, stretching, and body expression really sets them apart.

What we like most about them is their coaching staff, especially Francesca Caballero. Francesca is a Level 3 rhythmic gymnastics coach and national judge who started her career as a gymnast in Italy and has been coaching since 2001.

We also love how they offer a variety of classes to suit everyone’s needs. For the little ones, the Baby Recreational Group provides one class per week for £55 per month.

Adults looking to stay fit can join the Adult Recreational class, which meets once a week for £80 per month. For those serious about competitions, the Adult Competitive class, held twice a week, is priced at £135 per month.

Special offers, like free trial classes for new members, are a great way to get a feel for the place. Just keep in mind that there are no refunds or credits if you miss a class, so regular attendance is key.

Pros

  • Comprehensive approach
  • Highly-qualified coaches
  • Variety of classes
  • Free trial classes

Fosters friendships and camaraderie among students

“Highly professional and friendly club. My daughter has been with Rhythmic excellence for a year and grew from grade 3 to grade 5 within this 1 year. Also she found lovely friends. The atmosphere in the club is so friendly and girls are supporting each other. The coaches are friendly and unbiased, what is really precious – my daughter started to perform much more stable, she is not scared to perform, it indicates she has friendly and supportive environment in the club and she feels safe. my daughter fully trusts her coaches and she is very happy to do this sport.”

Encourages discipline while maintaining friendliness and support

“This is the best club in London. Me and my daughter absolutely love it! Coaches are amazing, there is always fabulous camps during the year where gymnasts improve a lot, different famous coaches are invited to attend the trainings, girls are friendly and supportive the same as coaches. At the same moment the discipline is encouraged for gymnasts! Management is great when it comes to communication with the parents. Would absolutely recommend this club for everyone. Its also a very safe place when it comes to professional sport as the coaches are respecting the protocols! 10 out of 10!”

When we visited Chelsea Gymnastics Academy, founded by Dr. Stefan Kolimechkov in 2022, it was clear why this place is quickly making a name for itself.

Dr. Kolimechkov’s impressive background as a three-time London Gymnastics Champion and a PhD holder in Physical Education ensures a high standard of training.

We were honestly impressed with the group classes that are tailored for children aged 6 to 11. These small classes, capped at eight students, guarantee personalised attention and a supportive environment, all for around £15 per hour.

But it’s their customised training that really caught our attention. Their one-on-one sessions focus on fundamental gymnastics skills like balances, rolls, and handstands.

However, these sessions are priced at approximately £80 per hour, which is higher than the average rate.

We do have to highlight Coach Misha, who joined in February 2024. With over two decades of experience and more than 150 medals and trophies to her name, including titles as a two-time Bulgarian Republican Champion, Misha brings a wealth of expertise and passion to her coaching.

Another thing that makes them stand out is their unique offerings, such as home gymnastics sessions and virtual gymnastics classes. These make sessions convenient for families with busy schedules or those who prefer learning in a familiar environment.

Pros

  • Expert leadership
  • One-on-one sessions
  • Virtual training
  • Variety of classes

Cons

  • Higher cost for personal sessions

Fosters a supportive atmosphere for growth and confidence

“Chelsea Gymnastics Academy stands out with exceptional coaching staff, state-of-the-art facilities, and a supportive atmosphere that fosters growth and confidence in students of all levels. I have the pleasure of knowing Misha personally, and she is really dedicated and passionate about her job. A couple of years back, she somehow got me to do a headstand in less than thirty minutes, even though I was freaking out about being upside down. She helped me overcome my fear and do something I wanted. That experience alone speaks volumes about the academy’s ability to turn fears into triumphs, making it a fantastic place for anyone looking to dive into gymnastics.”

Maintains a high level of professionalism

“Stefan was my coach for some time and from my experience, I can say that he has a lot of knowledge about gymnastics and is very motivated in his work. Most importantly he knows how to approach children. Stefan is very professional and he predisposes you to start training. I highly recommend him to every person who wants to practise gymnastics. He is the best coach I have ever had.”

Over Gravity is not your typical gym, that’s for sure. We love that they’ve created a space specifically for adults.

Talking to the regulars and the staff, we learned that what makes Over Gravity special is its variety of classes and the welcoming atmosphere. Davide Buzzi, a standout instructor, is a big part of this vibe.

His expertise and passion for gymnastics are contagious, and his personalised approach means everyone gets the guidance they need. Many of the folks we chatted with couldn’t stop singing his praises, crediting him with helping them unlock their potential.

When it comes to pricing, they offer flexible options to suit different budgets. A single class is £16, but if you’re planning to go regularly, you can save with a 5-class package for £69. They also have a sweet deal on a 15-class package for £165, which saves you £75.

For those seeking more personalised coaching, private lessons start at £55 – which is honestly a bargain compared to the average rates around here.

And if you’re into learning from the comfort of your home, Over Gravity has adapted to the times with remote classes and online training sessions.

Pros

  • Inclusive environment
  • Flexible pricing options
  • Community vibe
  • Remote classes are available

Cons

  • No classes for children

Boasts a welcoming and supportive community

“This is the best place to go to in London! The only adults gymnastics gym that you actually get to get quality classes with amazing coaches. The coaches really know their craft, classes has the conditioning, skills, mobility, combat and the community has in my opinion the best people I have ever met. Made new friends and they became my family. In a nutshell, if you try it once, you become addicted to the place and the community.”

Ahmed Bahaa, Google Review

Features patient, good-natured, and encouraging instructors

“This gym is truly geared towards all levels, offering progressions for everyone. It is even suitable for people who have never done a roll or a cartwheel. Before trying Tumbling 1 (beginner level), I thought it would be impossible for me to learn gymnastics at my age. To my surprise, I found several people who were in their 50s in the class. The instructors are super patient, good-natured, and encouraging. Failure is an option until failure becomes a success. In addition to gymnastics, Over Gravity offers rare classes and skills like screen combat, tricking, and acrobatics for dancers, so it seems to offer a bit for everyone seeking to overcome gravity!”

We recently checked out SWL Gymnastics, a local institution that’s been nurturing young gymnasts for over 30 years. They offer inclusive and engaging programs for children aged 4 to 16, and we were impressed with what we saw.

One standout figure is Coach Marx, a seasoned coach and former athlete with over 13 years of coaching experience. His one-on-one sessions are designed to help you reach new levels of gymnastic proficiency.

We do have to mention that his one-on-one sessions come at a premium price of £90 for an hour (cash only). These classes are a bit on the higher end compared to average rates, but you truly get what you pay for.

If personal sessions are not your thing, SWL also offers various classes, such as beginners, intermediate, and advanced classes.

We also have to give it to them for their impressive array of online resources. The training videos and home workout guides are a fantastic addition, perfect for those who want to keep up their practice outside of class.

Pros

  • Over 30 years of experience
  • Variety of classes
  • One-on-one sessions
  • Online resources

Cons

  • Higher cost for personal sessions
  • Cash only policy

Promotes rapid improvement in a few months

“My daughters have fallen in love with gymnastics again after starting at SWL. Coaches are brilliant, with a deep understanding of what makes young athletes tick. My eldest has improved rapidly in just a few months and has been picked for the competitive squad, which she’s delighted about. Thoroughly recommend it!”

Keeps lessons fun and engaging for teenagers

“Our daughter has been attending classes at SWL gymnastics for longer than we can remember, she is 14 today. The teachers have stayed the same and it’s a place she enjoys going to even as her interests change. I highly recommend this gymnastics school that gets to know each child, appreciates their unique skills and needs and adapts accordingly to make lessons fun, worthwhile and most important for teenagers: want to continue to attend!! Many thanks to April, Marx and team!”
