How much do bridal designers charge in London?

On average, most bridal designers in London charge around £3,250. However, the final cost may change depending on the design, designer’s fee or any alterations.

How we chose

  • Design aesthetic – We evaluated each designer’s signature style, versatility, and ability to cater to diverse tastes and preferences.
  • Customisation options – We prioritised designers who provide customisation services, allowing brides to personalise their dream gowns.
  • Industry recognition – We considered awards and accolades received by the designers as a testament to their talent and innovation.
  • Sustainability practices – We looked for designers who prioritise ethical sourcing and sustainable production methods.
  • Client reviews – We considered reviews and testimonials from past brides to gauge their satisfaction by paying close attention to feedback on communication, professionalism, and the final gown’s fit and design.

Gets expert assistance from the team

“I had the best experience of choosing and buying my wedding dress at Sassi Holford. Sanda, Amrita and the team were absolutely amazing and so professional. Sanda helped me choose the perfect dress, and Amrita made it fit like a glove. I lost 13kg between when my first measurements were taken and the wedding day so the dress had to be altered significantly. The team made it fit perfectly. And at every fitting appointment me and my bridesmaids and my mum felt so special with all the attention and bubbles. My dress and veil were 100% silk, and everyone at the wedding said I looked stunning. The ladies gave me a 10% discount for dry cleaners as well, who collected and delivered my dress back to me in a beautiful box.”

Accommodates requests for chosen fabrics

“I had known for several years that I wanted a Sassi Holford wedding dress. I kept looking at all the different collections and loved everything but was worried that nothing would suit me. There was a dress “Ophelia” from a collection done a few years ago where I loved the fabric and I rang the store to see if they still had this fabric available. I met with Sanda and we went through different silhouette’s and what would suit me most and I left feeling so happy and was so excited! Meeting Amrita and getting the dress fitted was magical, it was just the best. I love my wedding dress and I miss wearing it, thank you Sassi Holford and the team!”

Website

Founded in 2019 by Jess Kaye and Rosie Williams, The OWN Studio has quickly become one of our go-to names in contemporary bridal fashion.

We love their iconic minimalist and modern designs that break away from the traditional bridal stereotypes since they offer a refreshing take on wedding wear.

When we visited, we were amazed by their bespoke service. Brides can create unique, custom gowns through personalised consultations, tweaking existing designs or starting from scratch.

In fact, we spoke with some customers who raved about their made-to-order and custom pieces, perfect for various formal occasions.

They even take it up a notch by offering a range of evening wear that maintains the same high standards of design and craftsmanship.

Another thing we admire is their aim to break the unsustainable cycle of bridal wear by designing pieces that can be worn beyond the wedding day. Yep, they can be your go-to place if you’re planning to pass on your dress.

They accomplish this through a “Sartorially Sustainable” approach. This includes using fabric offcuts for bespoke accessories and offering tips for garment restyling and dyeing.

Pros

  • Sartorial sustainability
  • Modern and minimalist designs
  • Customisable gowns

Cons

  • A few reports of inaccurate measurements

Offers effortless collaboration and seamless communication

“I am so grateful I got my rehearsal dinner dress from the own studio. I truly felt like a celebrity and the absolute best version of myself. The team was easy to work with, communicative and I literally only needed to shorten the dress- the tailoring was unbelievable and the team is so talented. My gown was so soft, well made, and I couldn’t wait to wear it. It surpassed all my wildest expectations!!! 10000% recommend for any formal needs. Not to mention that the girls styled me with an awesome tuxedo blazer and I felt like the coolest person ever. Can’t wait to dye the dress and wear it for many years to come!!!!”

Brooke Cowen, Google Review

Provides attentive service with unlimited try-on options

“I knew I didn’t want the traditional wedding dress and The Own studio ticked all the boxes for me. Isabella was attentive and allowed me to try on as many items as I wanted. The silky material is like nothing I’ve felt before. The studio itself is stunning and the seamstress for the final fitting knew exactly how to tweak the dress. I’m looking forward to getting her to tweak the dress further so I can wear it again. Thank you for helping me feel my best on my wedding day!”

Since opening its doors in 2013, Andrea Hawkes Bridal has become a shining star in the London bridal scene.

When we went inside, we were greeted by a warm atmosphere. The staff were knowledgeable and passionate about the brand since they took the time to understand each bride’s unique vision.

What makes them different from the rest is that their gowns are made with precision using natural silk fabrics, luxurious plant-based TENCEL fabrics, delicate French lace, and intricate beading.

We were also smitten with their unique collection of bridal separates and jumpsuits since it offers a modern and versatile alternative to traditional gowns.

Another thing that really stood out to us was their great customer service. They have a handy chat feature on their website so you can easily connect with their team and ask questions.

Pros

  • Years of experience
  • Variety of fabrics
  • Chat feature

Cons

  • Small boutique

Achieves a bespoke feel through personalised tailoring

“I’ve been following Andrea Hawkes’ design for quite some time, and I knew I’m gonna find something I love there before i visited the store. I found my Elizabeth bias cut dress during the sample sell. It was simple but elegant. The team had been extremely helpful with my alterations, and my request to have some tailored add-on at the back. It felt like a completely tailored made dress. I received so much compliment on my big day.”

Luvina Yao, Google Review

Experiences immediate reassurance upon entering the shop

“I knew the second I got engaged I would only be stepping foot in Andrea Hawkes and no other dress shop! That put a lot of pressure on finding the right dress, but the second I stepped inside and was greeted by Siobhan I knew it was a fantastic choice. The dresses were obviously impeccable (I was aiming for minimalistic, classy, and particularly long sleeves), but it was the personal service, the artwork on the walls, and even the cool Japanese style tea cups used to serve a rhubarb fizz. If you want to avoid the cliche dress fitting experience, and indulge in modest luxury I can’t recommend Andrea Hawkes enough.”

Annie Doble, the creative force behind Annie’s Ibiza, started her journey in Ibiza and has now brought her extraordinary vision to London.

She sets herself apart from the rest of the designers on our list by focusing on rare couture techniques, Victorian corsetry, and intricate embroidery.

But honestly, we think the best part is that you can still customise her vintage-inspired 17th-century silhouettes to suit your style. Just pick your favourite and email [email protected] for the details if you need that.

The boutique isn’t just about bridal gowns, though. We saw firsthand how they offer a range of items including coats, jumpsuits, trousers, bags, accessories, and boots.

And if you’re dreaming of a destination wedding? No problem. They ship worldwide, so you can get your dream dress delivered wherever you are.

Pros

  • Couture pieces
  • Range of items
  • Worldwide shipping
  • Next day delivery (UK)

Cons

  • A few reports of poor customer service
  • A few reports of incomplete orders

Allows customers to try on multiple amazing dresses

“Annie and team were incredibly nice for allowing my girls to try on so many amazing dresses today in your store.  They had a wonderful time and it may well be the highlight of our trip!   The staff was exceptionally kind to us and just really nice to be around.   Wish you only continued success with your store and I know the girls will be dreaming of many of the dresses.”

David Ronn, Google Review

Provides a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere

“I’m so in love with this store!!! I have been following them on Instagram for a while and decided that I needed to visit while I was in London. I was a little nervous to go in because many high end boutiques dismiss you as a possible client if your not a size 6. But as soon as I walked in I was treated like a princess. The staff were so kind and helpful, it felt like trying on dresses with friends! I ended up buying the most beautiful dress and I hope to come back again soon!”

6. Atelier Tammam Sustainable Couture Fashion

Location: 5 Hastings St, London WC1H 9PZ, United Kingdom

Contact: +44 20 7388 5924

Operating hours:

  • Monday – Saturday: 10am – 6pm (by appointment only)

Website

Atelier Tammam Sustainable Couture Fashion is a pioneering force in the fashion industry, celebrated for its commitment to sustainability and haute couture craftsmanship since its establishment in 2007. With a strong emphasis on ethical practices, Tammam has set itself apart by offering bespoke, one-of-a-kind garments that not only epitomize elegance but also uphold environmental responsibility.

We like that Tammam excels in sustainable fashion, leading the charge with its dedication to using ecological, cruelty-free, and fairly traded raw materials. Their “fibre to finishing” approach ensures complete transparency and ethical integrity throughout the supply chain, setting a benchmark in the industry for sustainable practices.

Furthermore, prospective brides seeking a gown that embodies both luxury and ethical responsibility will find Tammam’s bespoke offerings irresistible. Each gown undergoes a meticulous creation process, involving multiple fittings and intricate hand-sewn details. This personalized approach guarantees a perfect fit and a garment that reflects the client’s unique style and personality, making it a cherished heirloom for years to come.

Aside from these, unlike others, they have a hire service for brides not wanting to buy a gown and with less time to spare. Instead of buying a gown, brides can rent one, which can be more convenient and cost-effective, especially if they are short on time to shop for a dress.

However, the exclusivity of Tammam’s bespoke service means that clients must plan well in advance. The meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail necessitate booking appointments months ahead of time, which may not accommodate last-minute wedding plans or tight timelines.

In conclusion, Atelier Tammam Sustainable Couture Fashion stands at the forefront of sustainable haute couture, offering brides a rare combination of luxury and environmental consciousness. Their commitment to ethical fashion practices and exquisite craftsmanship ensures that each gown tells a story of artistry and responsible consumerism. For brides who prioritize sustainability without compromising on style, Tammam’s bespoke couture represents an exceptional choice, embodying the essence of modern luxury with a conscience.

Pros

  • Leading in sustainable fashion with ethical practices
  • Bespoke gowns crafted to perfection, reflecting individual style
  • Wide array of gown choices

Cons

  • Open by appointment only

Here are some reviews from their clients:

“The team at Tammam helped me create this beautiful bespoke wedding dress from a vintage garment, by completely deconstructing it and tailoring it to fit me perfectly. They are professional, highly creative and have an excellent eye for detail. Thank you so much.”

“I am extremely lucky as Atelier Tammam made my wedding dress – after trying on a host of unflattering dresses, I was incredibly fortunate to have Lucy make my dress for me. It was absolutely perfect, which is incredible given that I tried on so many and couldn’t find anything I even remotely liked. She listened to everything I wanted but the dress was even better than I imagined. I recommend them to everyone I know who’s getting married!”

Medusa London is a bridal designer brand that specializes in creating one-of-a-kind, sustainable wedding dresses for brides who embrace individuality and defy conventional norms. Their focus on minimalist, cutting-edge designs ensures that each piece is unique, elevating the bride’s style on her special day.

One of the main advantages of working with Medusa London is their dedication to sustainability and ethical practices. All of their wedding dresses are handmade in London using 100% GOTS certified organic peace silk, which is cruelty-free and biodegradable.

Another significant benefit is the highly personalized experience Medusa London provides. Brides can expect a bespoke service tailored to their unique style and measurements, resulting in a perfect fit and a dress that truly reflects their personality. The brand’s collections, such as Medusa’s Muses and Metamorphosis, offer versatile options that can be customized further, allowing brides to make a bold and unforgettable statement on their wedding day.

However, there are a few potential drawbacks when choosing Medusa London for your bridal wear. The made-to-order and bespoke nature of their dresses means that production times can range from three to eight months, which may not suit brides with shorter timelines. Additionally, the cost of their sustainable and handcrafted pieces can be higher compared to mass-produced alternatives, potentially limiting accessibility for budget-conscious customers.

In conclusion, Medusa London stands out as a premier choice for brides seeking a unique and ethically crafted wedding dress. Their commitment to sustainability, personalized service, and innovative designs make them a remarkable option for those who want to embrace their authentic selves on their big day.

Pros

  • Handmade in London with organic peace silk
  • Personalized, bespoke service
  • Unique, cutting-edge designs

Cons

  • Longer production times (3-8 months)

Here are some reviews from their clients:

“When I stumbled upon Medusa, I was a bride certain of what she wanted but who hadn’t been able to find it anywhere. I then jumped on a call with Agnese and she was not only the peace I needed to know I would get my dream dress but the voice of confidence of someone who knows what she is doing. After the first call I visited her studio with my best friend and sister in law and fell in love with her designs and the versatility to adapt looks one way or the other. All through the process Agnese was amazingly communicative, proactive and cared very much about my choices and details. The day I collected my dress (and a costume piece) I was extremely happy and could not wait to wear the whole look. On my wedding day I got 3 looks of the one dress and an infinite amount of compliments: I wore the dress of my dreams and more!”

“I am so happy I came across Medusa London. From start to finish, Agnese was a delight. I had a specific dress in mind when I first visited the studio, but it was her wildcard choice that won my heart – and judging from all the compliments I got everyone else’s, too. The process itself was super smooth and personal, I was able to customise the dress, and it was finished with plenty of time to spare. Plus, with a few tiny tweaks I can wear the dress again. If you’re looking for a wedding dress that’s sustainable and just a little bit different, do give Medusa a try.”
