We’d recommend these 5 best golf coaches in London to anyone

Golf is one of those things that can easily humble even the most confident players. One round, you feel like you’ve just surpassed Jack Nicklaus; the next, you’re wondering if you’ve even worn the proper shoes.

That’s usually where a good coach makes the difference. You’ll have someone who can actually break things down, guide your swing, and help you build your confidence on the course.

After trying some programs and signing up for free lessons, we finally found the ones that clients keep coming back to. Whether you’re starting or just want to sharpen your game, these are the only ones we’d confidently recommend.

How much does a golf coach cost in London?

The cost of a golf coach in London ranges from £50 to £90 per hour for private lessons. Prices vary based on the coach’s experience, facilities, and use of advanced tools.

How we chose the best golf coaches in London

  • Teaching style: We evaluated how well each coach adapted their teaching style to suit different skill levels and learning preferences.
  • Facilities and technology: We assessed the quality of the training environments, including access to driving ranges, simulators, and performance analysis tools.
  • Range of services: We reviewed the variety of coaching services, including private lessons, group sessions, junior coaching, and on-course training.
  • Value for money: We compared lesson rates and packages to determine the value of each lesson.

What impressed us about London Golf School was their simple, confidence-focused teaching style. They focus on repeatable swings that work on the course.

We liked how they offer flexible options, including quick sessions for £60.

Though the real highlight is their ‘Golf in 4 Days’ offering, designed to help beginners become pros in just 4 days.

Sessions are very detailed, using swing analysis and step-by-step drills tailored to the player. Additionally, coaches have a great teaching style, focusing on small tweaks for instant results.

Another strength is their £25 online coaching, which offers a full 30-minute video breakdown. For busy clients, this may be a strong option.

Their indoor simulator sessions also got our attention, including a guided 18-hole session. This is ideal for live strategy coaching as you play.

The only downside is their strict booking policy. Sessions are non-refundable and have limited last-minute availability.

Pros

  • Clear coaching approach
  • Wide pricing options
  • 4-day intensive course
  • Online coaching available
  • Video analysis offered
  • On-course coaching
  • Central London location
  • Recorded feedback for practice

Cons

  • Non-refundable lesson bundles
  • Strict cancellation policy

Simplified everything

“After only four lessons with Steve, he’s already dramatically improved my game. He’s taken at least six shots off my handicap and made me fall in love with the game again. He’s simplified everything and given great examples for me to go and work on during the weekend. 10/10 would recommend to anyone from beginner to expert!”

Successful lessons

“Wow, what can I say! My 4 day golf program with Steve was phenomenal! He is an outstanding golf coach! I completely reset my game and feel so much more confident on the course now. This program 100% sets you up for success. It was completely worth the trip from Australia to attend the London Golf School. I cannot wait to upgrade my skills even more when I return to London. Thanks so much Steve! You are a legend!”

Don Brennan Coaching is a results-focused option that makes us feel less intimate during sessions. Both improvement and confidence in the swings came quickly in just one lesson.

They have a flexible lesson structure. We liked that there are 30-minute and 60-minute sessions tailored to a personal level.

On top of that, they have a beginners program that covers an hour of session with equipment. For those starting from scratch, this is definitely a good option.

Their main offer is the Full System Check for £575. We favour this for comprehensiveness, covering 6 hours of coaching plus a 9-hole on-course session using Dopper radar tracking.

The quality of the coaches is impressive. They gave us clear instructions and were able to make sessions fun and relaxing. Sessions are not overly technical or stressful.

It’s definitely on the higher end in terms of pricing. Full package customisations can be costly for most users as well.

Pros

  • Easy-to-understand coaching style
  • Beginners program
  • Seasonal programs
  • Uses Doppler radar launch monitor technology
  • Personalised drills and warm-ups
  • Proven score improvements
  • Suitable for beginners and players

Cons

  • Can be expensive
  • Can be difficult to book at times

Patient and thoughtful coach

“Working with Don has not only improved my golf dramatically but also my overall enjoyment of the game. He is a patient and thoughtful coach and every session will contribute to improved scores and understanding of the game. I would thoroughly recommend Don.”

3. David Wilton Golf Coaching

Location: The Manor House, Friern Barnet Ln, London N20 0NL

Website

Past clients of David Milton always mentioned how fast they learned with their coaching. Beginners were able to hit accurate shots, including a clean 77-yard iron after just one session.

Their TPI Level 3 coaching system feels next-level. They provide a clear 3-hour evaluation with mobility testing, plus TrackMan and 3D swinging analysis.

We liked this as it provides a personalised plan based on how you actually move, much like working with a life coach who tailors guidelines to your habits.

Their beginner and junior programs are very well thought out. They offer 3 private lessons and 4 group sessions at £199.

What’s great is that sessions don’t feel intimidating for new players.

The coaches themselves are patient and supportive, while still focusing on fixing the root issue fast. Clients leave knowing what to adjust, be it the swing, short game, or course strategy.

We just felt that a few moments can feel too advanced and intense for casual players. Higher options are also relatively pricier for most hobbyists.

Pros

  • Rapid improvement
  • Flexible sessions
  • 3-hour in-depth TPI evaluation session
  • TPI Level 3 certified coachies
  • TrackMan and 3D motion analysis
  • Personalised practice plans
  • Strong junior coaching (ages 5 to 17)
  • On-course coaching
  • Club fitting with launch monitor analysis
  • All-weather modern coaching facilities

Cons

  • Pricing can feel premium
  • May feel intense for some players

Fun with clear communication

“My son George who is nearly 12 picked up a golf club for the very first time last weekend. Yesterday he drove a 7 iron straight down the middle for 77 yards. He is naturally gifted at sport but the focus and communication by Sam had him listening intently and fully engaged. The confidence that Sam gave George was up lifting. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing and the rapid pace of development .The group golf for under 12’s also run by Sam is second to none and the kids love it. They get better at golf by having fun with clear communication. It’s a wonderful club all round and so grateful to everyone for the very warm welcome.”

A great golf coach

“David is very knowledgeable, approachable, professional and a great golf coach. He has always managed to identify the “cause” of my problem and finds great ways to explain and demonstrate what is going on and how I can fix it. I have improved with every lesson that I have had with him. Thank you.”

What attracted us here was Brian Lee Golf’s fast swing improvements. Clients we spoke with saw corrections within the first 10 to 30 minutes.

We liked the simplification of complex swinging issues into small, clear fixes that are doable.

We visited their private indoor studio and were impressed with the technology. They have Trackman, Capto, and 4D Motion Systems. This makes them among the most advanced facilities we reviewed.

Clients get a video breakdown, plus data and voice–over feedback after. This helps them take note of key improvements to focus on.

They blend technical data with simple “feel” cues. This makes players understand the numbers, but also teaches them how to feel the swing in their bodies.

Because of this, learners noticed visible results, even hitting 30 yards in just a few lessons.

Just take note that booking can be tricky at times due to demand. Planning is advised, especially if you’re planning multiple lessons.

Pros

  • Fast improvements within 10 to 30 minutes
  • Uses TrackMan, Capto, and 4D motion
  • Provides video recordings
  • Provides voice-over analysis
  • Sends detailed reports after lessons
  • Combines technical data with “feel-based” coaching
  • Provides drills and actionable practice
  • Follow-ups support via email/video summaries

Cons

  • Limited availability at times
  • Sessions book up quickly

Easy-to-understand coaching

“Brian can establish areas to improve quickly, coaches necessary changes with resultant improvements. Lovely guy with an easy to understand coaching. Highly recommend for young and older Golfers like myself.”

David Armstrong | Google Review

Excellent teacher

“As a senior with a handicap in the low 20s, I had seven lessons with Brian. He does not try to change more than is needed and uses technology to illustrate clearly what he is teaching clearly and simply – and the video he sends after the lesson underlines what he is trying to improve. Excellent teacher, has greatly improved my game, and a nice bloke too!”

North London Golf Academy stands out with its PGA pro-led coaching paired with TrackMan and GC Quad tech. This gives learned ultra-precise swing data/

Their 1-on-1 lessons are fully personalised with video breakdown and progress tracking after each session. Lessons are intentional and easy to build on, as they’re focused on making structured improvements.

We appreciate their unlimited practice memberships from £67.50 per month. This includes daily bay access, TrackMan data, and premium simulator time.

The beginner sessions are also solid at £65. This option already includes a full swing assessment, tech demo, and consultation with a £10 follow-up discount.

We liked this option as it’s a low-pressure way to see real data on swinings without committing too much upfront.

They also impressed us with their indoor-to-course progression. Lessons continue outdoors at Sudbury Golf Club for real-game application.

One downside is the membership terms, which require notice periods and penalties for late cancellations. This may be less flexible for casual players.

Pros

  • PGA Pro coaching
  • TrackMan 4 and GC Quad advanced analytics
  • Unlimited practice option offered
  • 1 free guest pass monthly
  • Indoor plus on-course training
  • Launch monitor hire
  • Video analysis and swing playback.

Cons

  • 1-month written cancellation notice
  • £20 late cancellation fee after allowance

Positive and empathetic coach

“I had recently lost all confidence in my game i wasn’t enjoying it at all, so in search of inspiration i booked up for the introductory lesson with Giulio. I walked in a lost soul and walked out feeling rejuvenated and re-born. He has a empathetic and positive way about him , anybody seeking a remedy or improvement in their game I’m here to tell you all the reviews are true and 100% justified , he was absolutely magnificent. Thank you Giulio i look forward to our next meet. Ciao for now 😁”

John | Google Review

Great attention to detail

“Giulio is a decent guy I would not hesitate to recommend him. He is knowledgeable and he picks up your problems straight away. You then be able to progress faster. TrackMan system is very helpful especially under this cold weather. The booking system is easy and simple. Driving there is ideal as there are plenty of car park spaces. However, by foot from the closest tube/bus station will take you about 10-15mins.”
